Crystal ball?
Equities have had a fair pasting over the past few days. Is now the time to buy some stock, or are further falls posible/likely.
I have to put a few grand in to the market (tax reasons) every year, so should I do some now?

OK! Crystal balls! I've had a bit to drinks so bear with me OK? I see alot of guys on here who work in using money to make money. Hope that's a fair assesment!
K2, Lil, Paul, Gez and others. Needless to say, I just earn it and deposit the stuff!
My Bank contacted me the other day via email to say "Hey Mr D, you gotta lotta wonga in your account and you are making naff all on it!" Her name was Donna. Sounded quite nice too!
1. That's good that they contacted me to tell me that as I hadn't looked at that account in a while.
2. How can I make that money work for me to the best of its abilities? Without too much risk, in laymens terms and transparently?
3. Not interested in 10 years time. What can it do for me say, at the end of next year?
4. "Tomorrow Rodney we will be Millionaires!"
I am a numbnuts when it comes to money. Any advice gratefully recieved.

I've PM'd you my bank details. Stick as much as you can in there and if oooooops I mean when I pay you back it will have doubled
Are you looking for a monthly income from your investments? What is your attitude to risk with your investment? Is this supposed to keep you going 'til you get a pension?
I'm no financial adviser so maybe you should get a professional to go through your options. Try and get one who works for a flat fee rather than a commission based slimey type.

Problem is everyone has different opinions..
Mine is strongly bearish.. I think the next couple of years will see equity and bonds fall.. Inflation spiral.. USD lower and real estate lower (cheerful aint I ??).. I do think some commodities will rally, oil will remian scarce, precious metals will amaze everyone.
So with that position I would not advise basic equities but I would look into energy / mining and exploration etc stocks if stocks are your game plan.
Theres also a gold CD being offered.. 100% downside protection so you always get your investment back at the end of term but exposure to gold price and a % of the upside of any gold rallies. If you want exposure but are not happy with risk then its one option. There are other CD's operated like this for other sectors, of course you get limited upside but you do get your money back if the trade goes against you.
I would be very leary of any bonds or T Bills sold as a safe haven idea.. I can see a possibility for much higher interest rates and in that climate bond values will come down as yields rise. I would also say that right now I think we are seeing increased volatility which is great for traders and scary for trend investors.. Right now may not be the best of timing to start..
Obviously given my opinions I do advocate having a sizable portion of your assets in hard currency (bullion) its easy to invest in silver and gold now through either online accounts (Kitco) Perth Mint Certificates (Backed up by the Oz Gov) or tracker funds listed online (GLD and SLV), I dont have absolute faith in 'I promise to pay the bearer'..
All of this is simply my position on the future and best guesses..

Short the US dollar and go long on the major asian currencies. You'll find US dollar denominated assets will start getting sold off in 6 to 12 months time which will put continued pressure on the US dollar
Buy gold via futures, cfd's etc once gold retraces back to $600.....too much hot money in there at the moment with the hedge funds. The chinese are tipped to buying 2800 tonnes of gold soon
A birdy told me the Chinese have just about finished setting a huge huge gold trading desk.......................it will be big....with large implications if you are long gold.
Don't ask me how I know.................but i'm up 2500% so far with the capital I allocated to trading gold this year and shorted it 5 days ago.......... lovely $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Well with something like gold (or an individual equity) timing does become important.. Especially with a CD which is a 100% investment back.. Gold is having a correction in the last week and I can see it going further down right now..
The everbank Gold CD has a 5 year term (they obviously want to lock you in so to minimize thier chances of a downside and having to pay out the principal guarantee in event of a pullback) which might not be for you..
Also bear in mind my opinion on gold and silver is purely that.. Theres plenty of other markets and exposure but its all about your feelings on where things will be..
Otherwise lots of 'fund of funds' type bundles that can be a more stable performers.

How about understanding the investment vehicle you want to invest in first????????????????????????????
It doesn't sound like you have ever had a plan to grow your wealth or know/ understand how to start. So do some basics................Do some research. Understand investment risk, financial market risk and determine your own risk profile and your what investment objectives are.
Common sense really.
Even though I like gold........I think in your case forget gold cd's, futures, equities, cfd's or if you do....only invest a small nominal amount of captial.
I think it would be more prudent for you to use an investment platform to diversify into a number of different investment asset classes - Spread the risk out
Oh and getting tips over the internet to make money isn't too bright or conducive for make sound investment decisions .
But I'm sure you knew that already
You'd better not listen to me then either

3. Forget I asked for a simple answer and nope I ain't too bright either.
4. I don't.........................Anything on HIV AIDS I need to know about?

If you had bought at the very lowest at the start of the year @ ~ 524 and sold near the top @ ~ 720 thats extremely impressive...If you had invested just 50 000 USD @ 2500% that would have gave you 1.25 Million USD in 5.5 months...with that much leverage a move of under $10 USD against you at the start would have lost you all your money, keeping in mind Gold can swing 20USD+ in a day, depending on the price you could get out with that many future contracts you could have ended up not only losing it all but owing $10 000s more. You must have balls of steel.
I must go outside now and get rid of those pesky pigs flying about $hitting on my lawn.
