Coastal Cambodia Tipped to be the next big thing

Have heard this now from a few differnt sources. I am still unconvinced.

Parts of Cambodia are tipped to be the next big holiday areas, some even say as big as Phuket!

What are your thoughts on this members?

Will take years before they develop in the same way as Phuket and to be honest its unlikely they will experience such a boom..

I'd put my money on Vietnam first. but haven't done coastal areas of either place. But Vietnam is a more attractive offer than Thailand. Really Malaysia should move ahead as everything is in place now, but don't think it will.

Like lil said, it is years out. Phuket still has a lot of momentum from past success.

I don't think the BIG money has enough confidence in the Cambodian government yet.

Guess i better get down that way. Plan on spending time in Kampot and Kep early next year. It will be interesting if they get a big oil business going down in snooky. That may provide riel and barang to make it worthwhile to build up along the coast.

Yet being the big word here.... I'm not sure if Cambodia will ever be as big as Thailand as a tourist destination, but should the cambodian government do things right then i can't see why they can't start taking tourism from Thailand... only time will tell but i do agree with ATM that Vietnam will probably be the first.

Watching the French news channel earlier this week, and they had a big report on the massive influx of foreign investement in to Cambodia over the last 18 months.

At the moment the price of land in and around Phom Phen has gone up by 2000%. Of course all this money is mostly going to Government officals, and has led to a mass of forced evictions. But it appears that the increased stability (?) of the government has led to this.

Its amazing what tv you can find during the day. See im not just watching "This morning!"
