How to live in LOS
Hey every one I have been following a few threads on this forum and I can see many BM who live in thailand and I can't help but wonder what most people do to finance living in LOS, I am keen on the idea of living there for a while and am interested in any ideas you guys might have as to make this possible
Thanks

The vast majority have investments, maybe rent a house out back in the west, invested savings..
Of the workers a very large % are rotation workers, be that oil and gaz, commercial divers (and thier LST's), or security / military..
One or two have had internetet angles, sports betting, Adword things.. I think I have detected a lot of BS around these claims IMO tho.
Others start and run thier own businesses.. I dont know hardly any employees based here.

I think that you "finance living in LOS" (as you put it), exactly the same way you finance living anywhere. You either have enough money so that you can live on investment income, or you find a way to work/use a skill and make that income in a local currency or in foreign one...

Its near impossible to get a job that pays here unless you have v specialised skills. Plenty try the `open a bar route`, but very few can make it pay - and by that I mean covering costs and having a little to live on. Superhigh rents and plenty competition and high contrast between low and high season.
If you want to live here then either build up an investment income from abroad, or work in oil/gas month on month off or something similar.

haha, i thought it was funny, your question is veg man. I got an idea. Save your money. Save your money.Save your money. Put $250000 in a 7% savings account and that will give you around 45000 baht a month.
Pay off a house or condo in farangland and rent it out.

You could always wear a mini skirt and put on some lippy. Seems to work well for some. Certainly one way to make a crust and open ya mind, (as well as other things).

I assume you ment triple that.
It depends on how much you waste your money. If you need 4200 a month to retire then you probably will never retire.

As a general 'rule of thumb' it's said you need seven times your annual income as an investment when you retire......if you want to maintain the same standard of living as when you where working.

Triple on my stereo??? is that a little humour Socal?? or is that as close as I've ever seen you to nearly admit you were wrong about something.
4,200 of whose dollars? American, Australian, Canadian. Expats you cannot be serious debating this subject with people who are guessing because they have had a two week holiday and then will argue they do not need cars, beds, Hospitalisation, Home, Car, Bike Insurances etc etc, that it doesn't enter their heads about visa runs and costs, emergency funding, legal fees on and on, because they are calculating based on two meals a day and a cheap hotel room??
We all know of people living here on 30k a month, up to 200k plus plus, are they kings?? personally I do not give a flying feck, I'm happy as the king in my world, I made this move, love the people (this includes thais and tourists & expats), the attitude, the weather and can always find something to smile about everyday!! means to me I'm ruling my happiness in my little kingdom of joviality!!

The standard of living and commitments I have means I spend around 250K Baht per month. House, car, maintainence of both, school fees, bills, maids, gardener, driver, leisure activities, travel and as Doger mentioned, the one-offs: legal fees, medical bills.........4,200 US dollars just isn't enough.

I can't belive the vast imaginations on this forum, lippy and a skirt maybe but I don't think my boobs are big enough for a bikini 555555

Nearer $4201 IMHO! $4199 and yer fcuked!
I think people know in thier heart of hearts if they have enough money to make a go of living here. If you have enough to live how you want to live where you are now then you will have enough for here! S'easy!

Doing something online where you are paid into an overseas bank is probably the easiest way to support yourself here. Find some good paying affiliate schemes where you are promoting wellknown branded goods can be lucrative.
