newbie going to los for 1st time.

i know this is prob on a diff thread, but i was wondering how to get ahold of "western" owned establishments when i get there, i think it would be nice to meet someone who can give me the low down on how things work there, and who can answer some of my questions that i know i will have that i do not know until i arive on site, and some people are saying anywhere from 4000 baht to 10000 baht, and the last thing i would want to do is run out of money, i was thinking of bringing about 2000 usd, is that enough?

my main goal there is to meet girls, maybe a few a day 2 st one lt and i dont drink too much so that should stem some of the money......

as a 25 year old guy, would i still have as much fun by myself, or should i get a friend to go with me? and would i be better to go to bangkok 3 days and phuket 3 days or all the time in phuket? a

nd do the hotel workers speak english, i would like to make sure i dont have to pay every time i bring someone home, and last,

should i plan to pay cash for everything, or is plastic accepted???

ohh and how to dress......

thanks in advance,
yaah i am number 10,000

book a hotel that has no joiner fee and you will not have to pay to have a guest. do a forum search to find all guest friendly hotels and then make sure you keep the hotel's response saying that they do not have a joiner fee and bring that with you.

If you go to Phuket and MTB(Mai Thai Bar) you will meet lots of Westerners there who will help you out.

Phuket has the beach, beautiful ocean, lots of things to do during the day. Bangkok is a big city, vibrant nightlife and lots of cultural stuff but it is a big city.

I think you are from Washington DC, so here is how to think about it. Do you go to New York City or Florida for your vacation? Phuket is like college break in Ft. Lauderdale for adults. Bangkok is like NY or LA but you can legally have fun with the ladies.

You will find more BM's(Board Members) in Phuket willing to give you advise and help you out.

People go to Bangkok to get laid. People go to Phuket to relax and get laid.

Get yourself to the Mai Thai Bar (MTB), in Soi Eric off the Bangla Road, and you are bound to find a few board members (BM), who will gladly fill you in on what to do.

For 6 days, that should just about suffice, have a look at this thread http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ne...ay-phuket.html and you will get a good idea.

Up to you! People tend to be very friendly in Thailand, so if you are on your own you shouldn't have a problem meeting people and having a laugh, again location up to you -

Yes, generally, they speak english very well, and certainly far better than I speak Thai. You need to stay in a guest friendly hotel, or a guest house. To find a guest friendly hotel look at this thread:-

Ok cash in most restaurants, bars, taxis etc. CC for hotels OK but they will want a surcharge.

Dress for the tropics!

LT should be less unless you are including barfine and tip or are going for Go Go girls.

Hotel will be a little more as it is high season.

You forgot to add drinks for your lady friend. Food you should be fine unless you eat at a high end restaurant. You might be buying some food for her. Of you do the GFE with a BG you will probably save on ST.

You may not be a big drinker, but you may want to ring the bell at the MTB and buy all your new friends a drink, add 2,000 baht to drink budget.

Why loosing a day when you are going for only 1 week. Sure it is 1 hour 20 minutes flight, but BKK to airport is 45 min-1 hour, you have to be there (check in) 1 hour before your flight, disembarking in phuket, waiting for lugage, taxi to hotel (Patong is 45 minutes), empty suitcase... that makes easily 5 to 6 hours.
So do Bangkok and take a taxi to Pattaya (2-2,5 hours) or do only Phuket.

Bangkok vs Phuket.

It all really depends on what you want from your vacation. Bangkok is cool if you basically are only after girls. Yeah there is some cultural stuff but most people just end up doing the go-go thing. As for Phuket its basically the entire package. You have the beach, the clubs, and the girls. So for my money I would always choose Phuket over Bangkok.
