Advice if u can for a Guy wiv his teenagers.
Hi lads n lasses.
Not a LOS Newbie, but plan to arrive Phuket 1st time for 4 nights or so after New Year. Rather than post a whole pile of new threads, I thought it might be better to list my cries for help in just the one:
1) Will be travelling with my Thai GF and my 3 teenage, (farang) kids - both genders so I need 3 rooms or 2 bedroom suite where one kid can sleep in lounge area as, whilst not a cheap charlie, neither am I rolling in it. (In LOS for 3 weeks and the flights alone cost over £3,500 + Christmas presents, holiday money etc., etc., + taking TG's family to Pattaya for 3 days over New Year, + funding the wedding of one of TG's sons whilst over.....you get the gist). Any ideas or recommendations, please?
2) Will Patong (and particularly Bangla) be suitable for teenagers who already have a liking for partying and would be bored stiff somewhere like Samui for to long. Both eldest drink in moderation with the eldest boy already a ladykiller and a complete male "tart" and the youngest (15) is lead guitarist in a local band, so used to girl groupies attentions - lol. Dad (that's me) is reasonably laid back with the teens having been a regular LOS visitor for a number of years.
3) Dad needs a gym as I suffer cold turkey if I don't work out for more than two days.
4) Dad also wants a good tattoo artist to perform a cover-up on a crap UK tattoo obtained a couple of years ago.
5) Dad's also unfortunately a little more cynical than he used to be (having been a faithful husband to mother of teens prior to her legging it wiv his mate and leaving the kids - thankfully, as they're solid gold mixed with diamonds). So dad's hoping Patong has short-time soapie massage parlours or similar where he can obtain some post gym TLC to various muscles and tendons that will doubtless require the tension to be worked out of
Kop Kuhn Krap in advance.

2) As long as you feel they are adult enough to handle the madness of party town then it should be fine..
3) Patong Gym down near the Rat U Thit and Sai Nam Yen junction is fairly good.
4) Am / Em who works in Siam Tatto at the entrance to Soi Easy has performed fresh tats and cover ups on lots of my mates.. Really quality service..
5) Only soapy in town is Christines but theres lots of massage places for oily and extras..

Hi SebD
Welcome to the forum.
First off congratulations on still being sane. I know the feeling with teenage kids
Visiting Patong just after Xmas is possibly one of the busiest periods, and therefore hotel wise, one of the dearest
If you budget will allow,I would suggest a family suite at Andaman Beach Suites or Club Andaman. http://www.r24.org/phuketport.com/phuket/beachsuites/
http://www.phuket.com/clubandaman/
If you are really on a shoestring, then I am thinking you will have difficulty getting good accommodation in Patong Beach area at this time for the no' of rooms you will require.
Try using Google and type in Patong Hotels.
There will be a big list to go through, but the sooner you get fixed up the better. Most of the popular hotels are fully booked already.
Good Luck

Seb2,
Well I can comment on the tattoo artist from experience. I have had alot of work done in Thailand, manly due to much lower cost factor, and much better artists. But, there are many tattoo parlors and all claim to be good so be careful. Just because they have nice pictures in their albums does not mean it is their work. My artist I swear by! He is great with cover ups, you give him an idea and he will draw up an awsome original pattern for you, he uses ink from Germany (which is a very good thing, less fading), and he is very resonable in price. His name is Ann, his tatoo shop was Siam tattoo on Bangla, but believe it was damaged in tsunami. I was told last week that he is working at Nicky's Handlebar (a harley bar) on Rat-U-thit rd, on the north end of patong. I personally am very impressed by his artistry and ability to put that on skin. Just MHO...I'll be getting some work done next week, so I can keep you posted. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the advice,
But checked out the hotels u suggested, Dawsey, and whilst being suitable, they are asking around 12,000BHT per night which is just a little over my budget (who am I kidding - a LOT over my budget, LOL). I was wondering about renting a house/apartment/condo as a pal sed "rent it for a week even if you just staying a few days" as it'll still be way, way cheaper than an hotel and not many condo owners will let u rent for less than a week. Any pointers would be welcome to this Patong newbie and his family.
Regarding the tattooist, Ann, does anyone know if he has a website. Got quoted 20,000 Baht minimum from a BKK tattoo parlor which I think is pretty steep, given that I only paid £120 for the original and am only seking a cover-up, not the Cistene Chapel - lol.
Thanx again, in advance.

New Gym
After four years messing around the new fitness centre is Soi Sunset is now open with all the mod cons.It is probably more expensive that the Patong gym.
Some of the smaller hotels will have vacancies after New Year. When in Jan are you coming? I noticed the Grand Montanna Hotel is still advertising rooms at only 950 Baht per night. The Baumanburi Hotel just opened its main wing and still is operating its old rooms as well. You might get lucky there.

Sorry Seb, I should have looked at the prices myself before recommending them
If you are looking to rent somewhere maybe there is a property suitable here

Good luck
