One or two?

Hi All,
While visiting Patong for the first time last month I noticed loads of older farang (of which I’m one) men strolling about with the same beautiful girl all week. At first I thought ‘sucker, why have one when you could have many’. But later on in my stay I started thinking it would be kinda nice to get up with the same girl every day and head off to the beach. The thing that puts me off is the language barrier…so many of these girls seem to sit there saying nothing for hours on end…is this par-for-the-course, or am over simplifying? Are there loads of hidden costs?

By any chance, weren't you the guy who came up to me at the bottom of Bangla, and asked "Bloody hell, mate, how do you shag something like that? She's got to be less than half your weight!". My response was: "Not that its any of your business, but, I take my weight on my elbows."

I am sure you weren't; but, having the same girl has certain advantages:-
-getting local prices at some places, GF will get you better prices at food stalls etc.
-more to talk about. Knowing a bit about each other leads to more things to talk about.
- GF is more likely to be open with you.
- GF is less likely to ask you to go to places, do things she knows you don't want to.
- she is more likely to be sociable towards your friends.

I don't reckon that it is any more or less expensive - some nights I don't pay a satang, others she is asking for money to go to beauty shop, go shopping, send to mother etc.

In Thailand its up 2 you! Oh, I have seen some younger guys get into gf experience as well - its not just the more mature ones.

Another reason is that after a while you meet someone who you get on well with and want to spend time with. Obviously when you first go to LOS you want to try all the flavours but after a while I found myself going back to the same bars to see the same girls and like Luke says, they look after you a bit more than those that you are with for the first time. However having said that, you have to make sure that you really want to spend all your time with one lady because they are real hard to "shrug off" if you change your mind

Being with the same girl can be good, if you trust the girl (not to run off with your wallet in the night etc) and like her why not?

Of course, as Diz points out, if you do decide to 'twist' then a girl that has been around a little while may be tricky to unload.

Generally I recommend to guys who ask that if you get a steady that you like your holiday will be smoother.No more "Hello where you come from etc".Some guys like to change every few days and the girls don't mind as long as you have told them in advance.If you are a return visitor you will probably be happier finding one for the full trip.The secret is that you still have to do the research!

I can confirm it's not just the "older" farang who have the gf experience.

I came here last year for the first time, after reading all the stories on this board and others, expecting a wild old time. Well, first night, and second bar (pretty close to MTB) later I met my gf - and I'm still with her almost 2 years later!!

My mate thought I was crazy, I got all the normal lines, try something else for a few days, don't commit to anything, but as far as I'm concerned if you find someone you can connect with and spend time together having fun - go for it, you may never find it again, and frankly life is too short.

I've found a real gem of a girl and can see myself staying with her a very long time. It gets better everyday, although it does help that she has good english and is a smart cookie (I've tried several times to get one over here and she brings me crashing to earth pretty quickly )

When you get to know the girl and make an effort to understand her more you will get far more out of any relationship, Thai or not. Of course she will have little knowledge of your life back home, and you will more than likely not know a huge amount about hers, but that is what makes the relationship interesting and admittedly difficult sometimes. I never stop learning about myself and her while we're together.

Also having a gf around town is very helpful when you need to get stuff done, what with not having a great Thai vocab as yet!

As far as costs goes go, believe me they don't stay hidden very long! Apparently Gold is so yesterday, a diamond is on the Xmas/B'day list!!

Don't be scared of the gf experience, I can't rate it highly enough.....so far!

Some can be said for the marry bit. Yes there are some horror stories out there, but there are also some great successful marriages as well. I've been married to my Thai wife for 10 years now, and dont regret any of it.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I think next time I'm in Patong I will stay with the same girl for the duration...as for the language difficulties...yeah, I suppose I sould put in a little more effort. I'm from Birmingham...the rest of England can't understand a f*****g word we say...so what chance has the poor girl got!! Thanks again boys...save one for me!!

I would suggest that you have this in mind, but you don't necessarily need to tell the girl as well. It may be that after 1 day you are happy but after 3/4 days you've changed your mind. If you "connect" with one of the girls, ask her to stay with you for a few days and then if you still want things to carry on flowing, then suggest she stays with you for the rest of the time, this gives you a second escape plan if needed

ALL i can say is i have done the butterflying bit in my time but i have had the same girlfriend now for my last 5 trips ,on my recent visit i was sick in patong and pattaya and to be honest i am a poor sufferer so i must have been a c unt to be with, stupidly i fell out with my girl and when i went to samui i sent her back to huahin where she works and told her we were finished (what a prat) i had a good time in samui but i really missed her and i was back in the uk for only 3 days when i had to call her and say sorry. so luckily we are back together again and i wont be so stupid again, i suppose a wedding ring might be coming soon (not too soon) i am really happy with my girl she was only at the bars in patong with me 2 nights as first she became ill and then i was ill.but she is happy staying in watching tv anyway as she says she works in a bar all the time so she is happy having a break away from it, and she is always there faithfully awaiting my return from the bars at night waiting with open arms (and legs most nights ) so i will be returning to patong for a short visit 6 days on may 7th alone, and then will spend 7 days in huahin with my girl she is very understanding (especially when she thinks i am only coming to los for 7 days 55555555).

Interesting question - My current cewek LBFM is a quarter my weight. Shes very skinny and I am very big. She likes it and even push a pillow under her so that she gets even more flattened (Road kill comes to mind). Though it could all be explained by the fact she is definitely into BDSM - So the profile fits.

i know this sounds a little selfish, but ive tried to explain and reason with the 2 girls ive been with LT. give me a week alone, and youll get the best week out of me after. put pressure on me to see you, and im not going to be happy

csn onlyconfirm that it gives you another in sight to Thai life other than what the average two weeks a year tourist will see.
