"Been once to patong for 4 months..............so i know quite a bit. my brother owned a bar in Patong so i've seen and watched it all.......watched 40 plus guys pick up and think they are the ONE... i've seen 3 bg's have at least 15 sponsers each promising each guy that they loved them and wanted to move to their country with them and get married while laughing and joking how stupid the guys were for believing them!!!!! " - travelgirl
i am sorry. but if you had been in phuket/patong for 4 months, maybe you would have better knowledge of things in general. cheers.

Value for money.. Incredible selection of small scale thai style eateries where your dishes will be from 30 baht or so..
I tend to like the Ubol Market for Go Tok and my missus like Jim Jum (both cooked on braziers on the table)..
We went the other day having a huge feast of a meal (raw prawns starter, Oysters, Jim Jum, Deep Fried Seafood in batter (calamari style) and some other main course dish.. Including large Bottle of beer and some cokes I think the total bill was 400 baht for 2 people and was so much that I couldnt eat it all..
Value just means eating Thai style from roadside resturants and places.. Phad Thai or Gwei Teow can be delicious in the right stall.. As can simple things like Duck Rice.. Look for the places that are busy with Thais eating there..
Of course best resturant (a topic dscussed many times that can be searched) can mean diffferent things to different people.. How important is price v taste v ambience v Airco etc.. Some people dont like platic chairs and outdoors and want an AC place with cloth napikins.. 'Best' means many things to many people..

Your brother ran a bar , you were there for 4 months , perhaps you should be telling some of the newer BM's about the places to go and where to eat.

Yum yum yum, my mouth is watering just reading the post! I am going to eat my own weight in Thai food during my upcoming holiday! Will the locals stare at me?

I found this little restaurant back in 2004 & ate most of my meals there last year, it's called Cafe Spatz & the address is 80/9 Permpong Pattana (Soi Wattana-Clinic) Thaweewong (Beach) Road 83150 Patong Beach. Great food friendly staff & prices like 11 years ago. Here is the web address.

Value Thai restaurants
Generally speaking the Thai restaurants along beach road tend to be showy and more expensive than other places.
Last year a number of good places opened up on Ratutit Road.As they are not prime site they are better value for money and worth visiting. There are also a cluster of cheap and great value places beside the open air Thai Boxing ring - not too far from Angels Bar.
Next to the Two Black Sheep there is also another group of good seafood places.Their prices are reasonable.

Value for the money....#6 on Rat-U-Thid Rd. Very good food, cheap price, clean, good service.....but not a great atmosphere. Never disappointed in a meal there.

I enjoyed them as well, I think that the food is a little better than the place next door.

'I've got one question being a female.....Do you guys really seriously want to settle down with a bar girl?? i mean I'm goin to Phuket for my second time in 2 weeks and have seen the nightlife but having read many threads of guys getting burnt by bar girls wouldn't you be better settling for a normal girl not in the bar scene.' - Travelgirl 06/01/2006
time sure flies for you. two weeks became 6 days or maybe you just can't wait to be in phuket.

Settling down? No. Not with a bargirl, not with a "normal" girl, not with a farang girl, not with any girl. I take my holidays for relaxing. Relaxing is going to the beach, playing golf, good food, drinking, partying.
But there are different types of guys. Some are butterflies, some want a long time relation, others... but I suppose there are also different kinds of women?
Otherwise, why would you want to go to Thailand twice in 2 weeks. I suppose that you also found a good way of spending your holidays.
