Hotel,Patong Beach

Howdy All;

I'm headed to Patong at the end of FEB for a couple of weeks. I'm still not sure where to stay. Last time I was in Patong in 2001, I used the Tropicana Bungalows and really liked their setup, Location & grounds. At the time they were GF and had a 300baht joiner fee. Is this still the case? or has their policy changed?. I also heard that the hotel was badly damaged from the Tidal Wave last DEC?

Any other options that are similiar to the Tropicana? Around 2000 Baht GF with a small or no joiner fee. Close to Bangla RD and the Beach.

I've looked at Salathai and Patong Villa as options.

Also planning on going to Ao Nang in the Krabi area. Any Ideas for hotels there. I'll be there more for activities ,Diving Kyack etc. So I don't really need anything fancy.

Thanks

Tropicana Bungalows was badly damaged by the Tsunami but all the refurbishment work has been done and it is as good as new (probably better than before), it is still GF but not sure about joiner fee.

The owner is a good friend of mine , I had quite e few drinks with him at Christmas. I suggest you send an e-mail just to clarify everything , but I would definately recommend this place.
