Newbie Intro- Westcountry
Hi Guys
Found the forum an excellent source of info. the search functions are excellent.
I am looking forward to arriving in Phuket Tues 7 Feb and catching up with a few of you there. Travelling solo, it will be my first visit back to Thailand for 14 years. I manage 3 x 3 month stays backpacking 88,89 and 92 with the then wife.
Originally from the West of England, well travelled but have been resident in Perth since 1992. I have a few mates who visit Phuket and other spots, so have a few pointers there. I have a lull between contracts, need to get my teeth fixed and may spoilt myself a little! I have 17 nights to pass, just hope I can last the pace now that I am 50 - maybe I will have to learn to take it slowly,(big head having some influenence over the small head.)
Have fun, and keep up the good work. This site is a goldmine of info to those that use it.

Hi,
Welcome to the board
If you give me your arrival and departure dates, I will supplement the calendar and the “arrival list” with the data.

Hi Werewol,
I arrive Tues 7 Feb, should be in town by 9.00 pm, and depart Fri 24 Feb.
I will check the calender to see who else might be there.
And to check the date of the Full Moon!
Regards, Westcountry

PaulUK,
Mainly Bristol, folks from Weymouth and Portland. But many good memories from Plymouth and Cornwall.
I see from the calender that there might be a good chance that we might be crossing paths. Looking forward to a beer and a yarn with someone with a silimar accent - I've kept mine all these years.
Regards

I'm with you Westcountry, I wish I had found it before I first went to LOS in 2005. I too reside in Perth, been here many years, originally from Hampshire.
I'm only a few years short of your vintage myself. Enjoy your trip and welcome to the board

Last post before the off!
Hi Gloryfan,
Wonder if we might have met sometime, althought I don't think I know any taxi drivers here. I had a 7-8 year stint doing minicabs in London in my 20s - quite good fun, and allowed me finances to escape to the Med or Eurore for 4-5 months of the year.
I live N-o-R, drink in the Woodvale, Kingsley and Baileys mainly.
catch you later. the Woodvale Wanders ( seperated guys from the pub are having another enmasse trip for the World Cup dates - late June. Apparently the England games won't be shown in Aussie. I will try to be there then with them. Some on the guys have the bug bad, 4/5/6 times a year. Lucky sods. This is my first taste solo.
Regards Westcountry -

Hi there Westcountry,
As far as I know all the world cup games are being shown in Oz on SBS. They have done in the past and do it well.
I'm think of going to LOS in June and watching the games up there.
I live up toward the hills, frequent the Kalamunda often, sometimes the Rose & Crown and Seventh Avenue.
I'm not sure what you mean by the taxi driver comment though?
Cheers
