First timer.
From what I've gathered posting and introduction is definately the way to go, so here it is.
Myself and 3 others, all aged between 19-21, will be staying at the Club Andaman Beach Resort from the 12th-23rd of April. All of us are into the club/bar scene back home, but from what I have read/gathered it's obviously that things are going to be a whole lot different over there.
Are there any bars in particular that tend to draw a younger crowd and/or chicks on holidays as opposed to BGs? Also is there any ways to pick out the LBs from the actual ladies as none of us have any interest in LBs and would rather stay well clear of any such situations. On that note, from what I can gather the LBs can be quite forcefull, is there any way to get them to leave you alone or does flat out telling them you're not interested normally do the trick?
I'm sure I'll have many more questions between now and then, and most of them will probably get answered as I work my way through the topics on the site.
This will obviously be a totally different experience to what we're used to, so all suggestions and information is greatly apreciated.
Thanks in advance guys.

G'Day Aus,
Welcome to the board. There are some bars that you can drink in that don't have BG's or LB's. During the day and night, a good one on Bangla road is Shipwreck. Good looking Staff working there that Don't go with customers. If you like the nightclub scene, then a good place to go is Banana Disco on the beach. Many girls that aren't Bargirls go there and also a lot of foreign women.
On my first visit I had no interest in Thai girls but that changed after the first night. Now I have absotutely no interest in foreign women at all......
Enjoy your trip, you'll have a great time.

Yeah, the guys I'm going with and I are definately ones to get up and have a dance so finding some decent nightclubs will be a must. Thanks for your response.

Nightclubs
Welcome Aus.
Most of the clubs all are frequented by tourists and Thais alike. With the exception of The Safari Club ,which is out of town, the rest are in Bangla or a short walk from Bangla. The Crocodile and Tiger get a lot of trade and stay open til 5am.
LBs will leave you alone if you leave them alone. If you don't encourage them they will move on.If you are pissed out of your head and take a very tall well endowed woman home then you are fair game.

Heh, there will be no encouragement. Though looking through the pics on this site gave me a scare, looks like a lot of them would be hard to tell apart. Guess the best bet is just to avoid places they frequent and hope for the best
How receptive are the ladies there to young guys like my group? We do fine at the clubs around here but some how I think an old guy with a fat wallet may win over youth in these situations.
Also, has anyone had any experience with Club Andaman Beach Resort? I've tried searching the forum without any luck.
Cheers.

Club Andaman is a great resort, and not too far from the action. It has a great breakfast, if you can get up in time.
Now the bad news: it is not girl friendly, and if you try and bring back a non-registered guest, they will charge you 2000 baht for the privilege. The way to get round this is to upgrade to one of their lotus bungalows at an extra 800 baht/night, but no joiner fee.

Ughh. Not good. We managed to book the cottages for the duration of our stay, how exactly do they know if you've brought someone back? I only ask because I can't see how we would have to pass through reception or anything like seeing we're in the cottages and not one of the hotel rooms. Is it just a case of 'if you get caught you'll have to pay', or is it pretty well garaunteed that they'll know? Would obviously rather avoid paying an extra 2k on top of the nights expenses.
Cheers.

The cottages should be OK - but check, send an email to the manager and check on non-registered guests in the cottages. If they say no fee, take a copy of email with you just to be sure.
How do they know - well its the security guards! They are the ones who take care of your GFs ID just to make sure nothing goes pear shaped! also when you jump in tuk-tuk with your bit of fluff for the night, and say "Club Andaman" they will take you right up to the front entrance where the security guard.........

Hey Aus welcome to the board. I would not try to get any trouble with the hotel staff just to save the joiner fee. If you get an email like no-joiner fee its ok. Otherwise i recommend to take a cheap hotel room for your night or if she is farang women there might be no problem at her hotel too. As my hotel was not GF friendly at all, forbidden to take someone inside, i took a hotel for 600 bth in patong for short stay with the girl. Wish you a nice time.

Alright, thanks for that guys, I'll send them an email and suss it out. If it ends up being totally non-guestfriendly, would it be worth a shot offering the security say 500 baht? Or wouldn't they take too kindly to that and probably land us in more trouble.
Thanks for all the replies.

I personally would not try and bribe the security guard....there are other ways the hotel will find out.....maids etc....hair on pillow, used shower cap, etc.....then when you check out and see your bill you will realise that you have been caught.
You are better off booking a ST Hotel as it's been suggested.

Well said mav, dont search the trouble. And second why giving the security 500 bth not knowing if you pass the trouble when you pay 5-600 bth for St hotel without any trouble?
next time to LOS you know it better and take a 100% GF Hotel. One of the many lessons you have to learn in LOS and honestly the easiest one

Yeah u probably are.....it was a piss take.
The girls usually know where the Short Time Hotels are....might cost you 600-800 a room during the current high season though.

Figured as much.
Thanks for the info anyway.
Edit: Just did a search, I see what you mean. I'll try to limit my topics to two-three hundred.
