Thats strange, as my nipper charged her i-pod about 4 times without a problem using the 2 pin adapter and i-pod charger lead.

Just push hard enough and just about any plug will fit into most Thai outlets. If not just buy one there, they are everywhere.

Thanks for reply Dawsey, a guy on the plane said he also had a problem with his i-pod, something to do with the current feed into the pod being incompatible. i did use the as supplied white charger lead. will see if any one else can suggest anything. Thanks anyway, Pete

I do not own a mains charger for my Nano, on my next trip I was going to rely on relaxing in an aircon'd net cafe while USB charging =)

And at only 1 baht per min you won`t be in a rush to get back into that heat. Unfortunately i do not have the cable between my i-pod and a pc, any case i reckon it would still be the same current surge into the pc as a socket in any room or hotel there. Sorry Mik, the drink`s not yours !

As an Electrician, I cannot see why you had a problem.
Both countries are 220V and 50HZ. Also the PSU you used - should be capable of 110-240V and 50Hz-60Hz. The item will be dual insulated, meaning that you don't need an Earth. I can only think that you had a dodgy adaptor plug or something was wrong with that.
I know everything in Thailand is a copy - but I don't think they can make fake Electric yet.

I question that, you should say the supply ranges from ~160 to 250 on a good day. But it is getting better. Just listen to your computers UPS burp and fart and carryon all day.

Actually Voltage is not important, its the Frequency that is very important. If the frequency varies too much, thats when problems really occur.
Anyone got a multi meter?

Surges
The issue with Thai Electrics is the surges. I had a similar experience with a laptop charger which blew in a Thai socket. Use a surge protector from the UK and a decent quality two pin adaptor (£3) and all will be well.

Anyone that plus anything of value into a Thai power socket without some protection is crazy. I dont know how many PC power supplies I have blown over the years.
