Red face Looking for old thread with dates of high and low seasons

I am still coming in August (changeable) but it appears from my reading that the ratios are better in low seasons, in spite of bgs going home. The hotel prices also look to be half to a third of peak price. (not as important but a nice bonus). However I can not get an accurate read on when these seasons start and stop. They also seem to be influenced by holidays in other countries, so this factor is also important. If there is no old thread with a list, would someone please tell me these dates and holidays.
Hope this is useful to other readers as well. Thanks, Tom

High - Low Seasons ?

Some say 2, some say 3 or more.

It can be a little confusing for some punters.

I personally say there is 2.

Low
May - October

High
November – April

Give or take a week here or there.

Most of the hotel rates schedules will highlight the season just by the $ being charged.

Over here in Aust, costs skyrocket with Easter, Christmas & New Year and to a lesser extent during the School Holiday Breaks (different in each state for public and private schools but give or take a week they are pretty close).

My main trips away O/S that I try to plan tend to be Sept/Oct – Weather, Rates etc are just on the turn from Down to Up and it always seems to be good for me.

But sometime I just go when I can and then I have to “roll the dice".

Cheers

SD

Smile High - Low Seasons ?

Thanks go to you too sierra delta. But when I mentioned ratios I should have stated bgs vs. Visitors. The two factors being bgs going home and number of visitors arriving in low season. I don't mind the inclimate weather in low seasons so it would be silly to go in high when fewer bgs per man.

OK...If that's the main criteria, I would stick to Oct/Nov (pref November).

Last of the Low going into the High (Costs are still Low'ish and the majority of the BG's are either back or coming back).

The BM to BG ratio should be very good.

Once you hit December onwards I believe the ratio is diluted very quickly.

Cheers

Overall I would say the best period to visit is June/July and mid November. Wouldn't worry too much about ratios though. It mostly depends on timing and just pure luck, like stumbling into a bar at the right time.
