Slow/Peak season boundary points?

Greetings--

Promise (promise) I have been searching the board but have not found that which I seek.

To wit, when does the slow(/peak) season start(/end)? I am to be in KL in two days, stay for a week, then go to Phuket. Three weeks of beaches, surf, and more beaches. Although I have heard something about the nightlife being of note. (Ahem...)

Thanks.

Cool Once again

High season ie peak prices starts at 1st November and lasts until end of April.

Weather is stable in high season but in low season is subject to the monsoon storms.

Don't forget that there is also a PEAK SEASON within high season. This generally starts just before Christmas and finishes mid January. Hotels usually charge more than high season during these 3 weeks.

Also, some hotels give their low season rates from 16th April, even though its still great weather. Guess its because people are leaving after Songkran

For hotels it is usually between November to end of April. My own observations is more like December-April, with March being more quiet than the other months.

Nickes hit the nail on the head.. You can start to feel the build in late Oct and Nov.. By last week Nov its getting busy.. Dec and up to 2nd week jan is nuts with jan tapering down a bit and good numbers into Feb but getting quiet into March. Then theres an Easter break and Soing Gran peak in april.

Low season really becomes apparent after April and into May June July with a small boost coming from the Euro countries in the summer vacation periods, this can be spread from late July to 2nd week of sept but often is a family vacation time with school age children getting summer breaks so probably is felt in different segments of the market more then Patongs bars. Also this low season bump is not a big one compared to real high seasons, more just lifting the numbers to perhaps near mid point from very lows.

Patong is pretty insulated from the absolute peaks, was interesting to see Lanta essentially empty and closed for business yet I am told in high seasons you struggle for a room and the few bars that are there are heaving.
