2 first timers
Hey everyone, just wanted to say how nice it has been to be able to read all of your posts and get a good idea of thai life before I go. My brother (21) and I (23) are heading out to thailand july 19th for our first trip out there.(we're from canada and ive never been outside north america, brothers been to oz) I'm really looking forward to it, and have been spending about 2 hours a day reading stories, and info from these boards. Anyway, I guess the main point of this point was to say thanks and that I hope to meet some of you guys at mai thai. We fly into Bangkok, and then we'll be going wherever the wind pushes us. We'll be staying until mid november so we'll have lots of time to live it up. Is there anywhere that we might want to avoid being that its the rainy season? Anyways, looking forward to meeting a few of you, see you in a few days!

I went to SE Asia with my younger brother too about 20 years ago. Problem was we flew Vancouver to Singapore and turned left and headed for Sumatra, Indonesia. Wish we had turned right and gone to Phuket!!! I can only imagine how different my life would be now!!
Welcome aboard and for sure you will have a fabulous trip.

Any of you Vancouverites going to be down there during this time? Might be nice to grab a beer with someone from home during the 4 months.

Awesome, ill try to keep a somewhat updated resume of our goings on while we're in thailand as I totally enjoy reading others stories of their trips. Also should give you guys an idea to where we're at so drop us a line when we're near and we'll come grab a beer.

I would suggest you lads try many different areas rather than just the tourist hotspots with all the time you have available to you. Many nice places lie up around the Mekong
