Intro and questions!!

Hi my names Ollie and I'm leaving smelly old London for a career break and wanna head in toThailand for some months.

So I have millions of questions but I wont bore you with all of em and just the main ones.

Basically I just want to go there to chill and have some fun...

anyway questions

1. Whats the most lively area to stay for ie bars , clubs, moon parties, travellers?

2. Wheres the best cheap accomodation to stay, heard you can hire cheap beach huts for next to nothing...ie £1-2 equivalent a night?? would be great if this was near the action!

3. Also if i was careful with my money how long could i live there with say £2000?

4.Am a dj in London would it be easy to get dj work? ie should i bother taking my tunes?

Many thanks for your time!

Ollie

Phuket is not cheap.. 2k GBP will only last a month or two of partying.. I spend about 2k GBP per month as a resident but do enjoy life.

Cheap room 500 baht per night currently.. No beach huts here thats more the gulf islands.. Phuket and Bangla is very developed and very 1st world.. Many people on vacation budget 60 - 100 GBP per day as a normal amount to party drink enjoy the girls and bar scene.

If you want to do the backpacker bit the Koh Phan Gan has the full mnoon parties and beach huts can be 350 a night when no party going up to 1000 per night around the FMP when Haad Rin bursts at the seams with people..

DJ work.. Well you may get to spin a bit but when Thais earn low low money dont expect you to get paid (or obtain a work permit).. Basically your not going to come here and gig and survive on that. I would doubt you would even get any work without spending a lot of time networking.

Nightlife and bar scene are Phuket Pattaya and a bit of a different scene over on Samui.. KPG has the FMP's and theres a nice island vibe on KPG and Koh Tao but not so many girls style nightlife.

Hate to burst any bubbles but 2k is a nice long holiday amount.. No where near a live here amount.

Cool Not long

I agree with LOL 2000 Quid will not last too long in Patong. It has just been featured in one paper as the most expensive place in Thailand. If you were to scrimp and go easy maybe two months here for that.

I'm planning on doing the same as titipornstar, and whilst I'll have more than £2k, I still need to do it on the cheap.

What is the MINIMUM I can get away with? I've seen long term bungalow rents for 6000/month in Chalong, but I'd image they are a fair way out of the action and basic.

What are the absolute bare minimum costs for living in phuket? I know about the girls, beer, food etc, but can't really judge how much it'll cost me just to bum around doing nothing, enjoying the weather.

Anyone help a pauper?

If you really want to stay in Thailand and spend nearly nothing, then you should visit this web-site.

http://www.backpackthailand.com/home.htm

Backpackers are experts about everything that is cheap.
