I will be arriving in Phuket in a week and I will be arriving very early in the morning. I was wondering if I should attempt to convert a few hundred into Baht in my country beore I embark. Will the currency exhange places at the airport be all closed at that hour? I don't want to get to the hotel and not be able to pay for a room until later.
The only thing is that I have no credit cards and my bank card I am sure only works in Korea as that is where my bank is. I had to forfeight all my credit cards when I filed bankruptcy after my divorce. I am sending the bulk of my travel cash via western union so I can pick it up in Phuket so I wont be traveling so heavy. I think I'll probably just change over some Won to Baht in Pusan before I take off.
Sounds like a plan... The exchange should be open though, are you flying via Bkk or straight to HKT??
I'll be flying straight to Phuket. In most airports I've noticed that the exchanges shut down from say 11:00 - 7:00 or so. I'll just change over 150.00 into Baht here in Korea so I'll have enough for a hotel and cab fare that night. Then the next day I'll hit Western Union and get the rest.
Look at the back of your atm card. If you have Cirus or starplus on it, you will be able to use your atm card here. Otherwise just change some in Busan and change the rest when you get here.
