Newest newbie here

Hi, 30 something married with 1. In sept it will be our 1st Patong visit. Two weeks of no working! can't wait. We are from West Aus. Perth. We are travelling with two other families so we should have a ball. Im especially intested in seeing how the nightlife thing goes down. By the looks of this site it's going to be a real eye-opener!!! This seems to be a top site for learning things about what we can expect in Phuket.

Hi Jaxon and welcome to the board...

We are also a family and have been holidaying in Phuket for years now...but we love it so much that we are moving there to live in September...actually arrive on the 28th September...so if you're there around this time maybe we can catch up for a beer or two. If not have a great time...

Cheers

Marcia

Also a warm welcome to the board from me Jaxon, I hope you have a very nice time in Patong with your family and friends. You have to visit Bangla Road and the soi,s and off course the Mai thai bar with our all very friendly host's Nick and Ead.

Hi Marcia,

Thank you for the welcome. We are travelling 1st two weeks in September. It would be great to talk to people over there who know how it all works.
Moving there permanently is amazing!!! Is it hard to get residency.

Regards,

Jaxon

Mai Thai Bar is easy to find, when you are in Bangla Rolad (where everthing is happening ) just look at Soi Eric, when you are in Soi Eris the Mai Thai Bar is almost in the middle of that soi on your right hand site

We are going to LOS on a Non Immigrant "O" type visa...which enables you to stay for three months at a time then do a visa run...however, because we are retired and Mike is over 50 we are able to make an extension on this visa for 12 months...effectively giving us 15 months before having to leave the country...we have to come back to Australia after 12 months though as our ticket is valid only for 12 months.

We plan to have a break in Australia after this to see family and such then return for a further 12 months.

The length of time that we stay will really depend on finances. One of the biggest costs will be the schooling of our 14 y/o son. We are placing him in the QSI International School Phuket and this will cost $12,000 per annum.

Sorry we won't be there when you are...have a great trip.

If you are interested in what we are doing you can read about it in our thread on this forum.
