Thanks for all your replies. To answer some Q's, I've been in BKK for almost 2 1/2 years now and I teach corporate English. I really eanjoy it, and yes, I can give you info and tips on living here, but my preferred home is Phuket. My husband is from Phuket. Yes, I'm a western woman married to a Thai guy. You can ask me questions on that if you want. My move wll include a career change which I want to keep a bit quiet until I have some things in the works.

Welcome to the board Tacoma...nice to see another lady on board...

My husband and I are moving to Phuket from Australia at the end of September...we plan on staying a year or two...

Do you teach thai as well? Because I will be looking for someone to teach me and my husband Thai while we're there.

Interesting that you are married to a Thai guy...anything you would like to share about this would be of interest.

Where are you planning on living in Phuket?

Marcia

Nice notice of my user name, Marc 26. I'm Canadian and I've always love the Tacoma truck. There are alot of pick up trucks in TL, but I don't find any of them as appealing as some of the ones in North America. Thailand is second to the US in pick up truck sales.

Hi M&M. I saw a few of your posts on here before. Are you both Australian? Are you retiring in Phuket or working? I can't teach Thai, I'm still learning it. I go once a week for classes. There are lots of Thai language teachers in Phuket, as in BKK. One thing that's funny is alot of the westerners who have lived in Phuket for a long time speak in the southern dialect. When they come to BKK, people are surprised by this.

My husband is from Chalong Bay, but we're looking at Thalang in the northern part. It's really green, scenic and peaceful. I'm going to Phuket next weekend with the purpose of us starting to look at a place to live. He's living at his parents' house now, which is common for Thais. We've agreed on living in our own place when I move there.

I need to close this now becasue I have to work in an hour with a private student. Please ask any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Hi and welcome Tacoma.....always nice to welcome a lady on board!!!

I hope your plans to relocate to Phuket work out well.....and gee I wouldn't have much trouble living in Chalong....I am down there for diving most of the time when I am in town anyway......save on the trip out from Patong.....

Tell us about Thalong......is it on the coast above the airport??....I'm sure I've seen a sign on my way up to Koh Lak???

I am interested in how you get along with your husbands family if you care to share in this......I would understand if you choose not to.....but....

It is just that we always read guys points of views here about expectations on them to fit into a Thai family....mostly financial but also "face" issues.....is it much different for you??

Hi Tacoma...yep we're both Australian and have four sons...bringing the baby with us he's 14 and placing him in the QSI International School on Phuket. Yes we are both retired.

At first we are going to live in the Patong area...but not sure after that until we get there and check it out like yourself.

Hope you find a suitable place to live and that your relocation goes smoothly.

Marcia

You don't need to tell us, of course, but I 've heard some of the BGs make very good money!

BTW, Welcome to the Board, and don't take anything I say too literally!
