hi from a newbie, looking for a little info
hi guys, I have trawled through the reams of info on this website and while a lot of it is very useful, I hope I don't offend anyone by asking a couple of questions that may have been answered somewhere but I couldn't find....
about 8 years ago as a student I backpacked for a while in thailand but never ventured to Phuket, I spent most of it on tao, samui and phangnan, (I know I know it was more of a 3 month beach holiday, did go to Indonesia as well though)
I'm hoping to go out to thailand again for a couple of weeks on my own around October time, and my questions are
No. 1 Where can I find somewhere to really relax, huts on the beach kind of thing like in samui, somewhere where I can get away from the people hassling me to buy something or shag someone, I don't mind being hassled for a bit, probably spend a couple of nights in patong for the experience, but after a while it would be nice to properly relax
No. 2 Is anybody else planning to go out to Phuket around October, would be cool to meet up with some like minded individuals
cheers guys
Andy

Bungalows
Look up "Big A Resort" which is quiet and near the Chalong Circle.
Another one with bungalow style is "Friendship Beach" in Rawai.

Hi mrmagoo,
Sorry to break the bad news, but you’re about 10 years too late to find beach huts on Phuket! Most have been redeveloped into up market resorts. The only true ‘backpacker’ style one I can think of is at Ao Sane beach near Naiharn. You need to take the road that runs underneath the Royal Meridian Yacht Club and follow it about 1klm. A Very laid back resort with its own beach – and cheap!!
Enjoy your stay here and good luck

I see you are a new member Geoffphuket...welcome to the board...You may be able to give us a few tips when we get to Phuket at the end of September as we are moving there for a year or so and will be looking for permanent accommodation when we get there...and as you say you are a 9 year resident...you must be fully informed!!!
Any help when we get there would be much appreciated.
Marcia

Hi marcia
Thanks for the welcome - I've only just discovered this forum!
I'll be only too pleased to offer any advice as best I can. Let me know where you plan to stay - or what sort of facilities you'll be looking for, a rough idea of your acommodation budget and I'll give it some thought.
Just back from a visa run to Penang, so sorry for the delay in replying.
