Question from a newbie

Hi All,

Love this forum - me and a mate are heading into Patong next Monday, 4th September for 8 nights.

Really appreciate all the good info on this site, I feel like a LOS veteran and I've never been there.

One quick question though - I've searched but can't find anything relevant....

Our flight gets into Bangkok at 10.30pm local time, then our flight to Phuket doesn't leave until 6.45am.

I will try and get some sleep on the plane - any suggestions for how to kill the 8 hours in between? Where do we go in Bangkok?

thanks

Maybe Nana Plaza till 2am...then Sanook Club Soi 7, till 4am...then back out to Airport ?

I'd say lolitas (suk soi 8) you'll enjoy this place after your long flight... then either nana plaza ( 5 mins away ) or soi cowboy (also about 5 - 10 mins away) Nana is closer though. If you go to nana, when nana closes at 2am you can walk over to sin bar, they're usually open till 4am as well. Oh yeah, welcome to the board

Hi Jay,

Not through Flight Centre - wasn't keen on twin share and the hotel that you have to take has a large "guest" fee.

I booked the flights through webject.com.au, and then booked online at the Summer Breeze Hotel.

About $1300 AUD for flights and accomodation, all up, so it's not much more than the Flight Centre package, but with the accomodation we want....

welcome to the board mate, hope you have a good trip, agree on the part about booking a bf friendly hotel rather than the package options.

go with the boys on this one, nana or cowboy, nana has the short time rooms upstairs and cowboy has the one at the end of the soi.

leave your big baggage at left luggage at the airport, not expensive, but pack a small bag inside your hand luggage.
take the small bag with you into bkk containing tickets, mobile, passport etc.

Yeah thats right,i also looked into the flight center deal but no good for single guys wanting fun.Webjet are good thats who i used last trip.I found the flight i wanted printed it up,took it down the local flight centre office, asked them if they could match it?They matched it and took 20 bucks off.that way you get the cheap internet ticket price, plus flight center back up if you have any probs.all the best, jay

only thing is i dont know if left luggage will be open that late
if i was you, id take a taxi to nana or dynasty hotel
ask the girl ay the desk if you can leave your luggage with them and give them 200baht, then go out to nana and sukhumvit, then collect your bags

Isn't there some distance between international and domestic terminals, meaning some hassle picking up your bags at the international terminal, then getting to the domestic terminal if you're pressed for time?
Maybe I'm wrong or it's not that big of a deal, but I'd want to bring my bags with me and store them at a hotel like marc26 suggested. Then it's a staight line to domestic departures the next day.

Nope.....well not for the time being anyway until the new airport opens.....then only buddah knows......

The international + domestic terminals at Don Muang are in the same building.....approx 3-4 minutes walk apart

3-4 minutes, that some walking!! more realistically 15 minutes brisk walk. There's a left luggage at the domestic terminal as well though. I *think* your times would be ok.
