Post Golf on Phuket!

Hi Gents!

I'm out for my Tour in Phuket in mid. of September. Alldoh the weather "can" be quite sh*te this time of the year i want to bring along my golf equipment and try various Clubs around Phuket. I have been playing various Clubs around Patts (Laem-Chabang etc.) which have been outstanding in terms of price and value.

I have been reading "thaigolfer.com" for reviews on various golf clubs and found out that the comments on clubs like "blue canyon" and "mission hills" for example are not the best and many people found the prices to be over the edge for the service that was offered.

Its not a problem to shell out EUR 100,- for a nice day at the Golfclub if the service offered, golf carts - good caddies and a nicely maintained course, is right.

Could some expirienced Golf BM's put me in the right direction what courses i should head for? I found Loch Palm and Phuket Country Club to be very good on the comments on that internet site. I will be there for 14 days and want to play around 4 - 6 times in that time period.

Thanks for all the help.

cheers,

Chris

You answered your own question; Loch Palm and Phuket Country Club is the way to go But Mission Hills have a good driving range with automatic ball feeding.

We play at the 9 hole course, Phuket Country Club every week.

Hi,

Just go to the Blue Canyon Golf Club... this is the most beautiful and the most exclusive on the island. The Phuket Country Club Old Course is also very nice.

Just enjoy. Please note if you book you Tee-Off between an golf agency or so, you can get an easy discount up to 30-35 %

enjoy

Hi Guys!

I read that Blue Canyon Lakes course is still under renovation and wont open till late this November. Also the Greenfees are quite expensive there. Anyway i will check it out. As their homepage advert says: Tiger Woods : One of the best clubs he ever played. *g*

I wondered if i dont prebook with a Golf Agency but call in direct at the Club if they have any special discounts?

Nicke: I normally play 18 holes. But maybe we find the time to head out and play together in September. Would be fun.

cheers,

Chris

Chris

Hi there

An automaatic ball feeding, means after you hit your ball, the next one come's on the top of that plastic tee which is on the madress, automatically.

You dont'have to drop down, so this could be nice if you have planned to hit hundreds of balls !!

sorry for my english... i just use it not enough frequently.

Blue Canyon has two 18 holes courses, the "old" or canyon course and the newer Lakes. Lakes is cheaper and proposed to tee-time bookers/tourists, canyon course is more difficult (and expensive) and you have to ask specifically for it if not known there (or a member). Canyon Course is known as best championship course in Asia. If you can afford it, do it. If you are higher handicap, go for the Loch Palm or Phuket Country where you will get a better score.
Another course, whith less humps and bumps is the Laguna (formerly Banyan tree).

>>good driving range with automatic ball feeding<<

Clearly I've been living here too long! My immediate thought of an automatic ball feeder was of a brownskinned lady maybe 5foot 2, bending over after every drive and placing a fresh golfball from her bucket on your tee

Where exactly is the 9-hole course? Is it on the opposite side of the road to the 18-hole down by the driving range? Keep thinking about coming one thursday but haven't swung a club for 5 years and I was cr@p back then anyway.

Yeah it is opposite the 18 hole course, you drive passsed the driving range. We go every thursday after noon, I usually go to Nicke's house at 2.30pm and then arrive to tee off at 3.00pm, its a really good test and well designed course.

I reckon the Canyon Course at Blue Canyon is the best course on the island greens are very slick and undulating. Personally I like loch Palm next, then Phuket Country Club, not so keen on Laguna but played crap the day I was there so thast is probably the reason. Mission Hills designed by Jack Nicholas I presume would be a decent test but as yet havn't been up to try it, have used the driving range with the automatic ball feeder, handy but as I usually want to check my swing and use irons not much use as it drops it on the rubber tee.
