I am sure for you old hands - this is bread and butter but was wondering if

someone would give me pointers about :-

Best time to go -early dec or over new year?

flights - i notice there are direct or via bangkok ?

Book flights now or wait ?

accomodation - any suggestions re guest friendly etc

hope you can the jist - any advice appreciated

Hi Bloke, welcome to the board. For basic questions you can generally find answers by using the search function and finding previous threads on the same subject.

On your specific questions I would say:

Depends how much of a party you want, December will be busy and New Year will be mental. Up to you.

Book flights sooner rather than later, and if you are going at that time of year then booking a hotel before you arrive would be a smart move.

Have a look in the Accommodation thread for hotel advice.

Most flights you find will be via Bangkok, it's no big deal.

Welcome to the board funnie. For some reason not everyone knows how to get the best out of the search function so...

Best time to go - like our Steve said, depends what you're looking for. In my opinion best time to come to Phuket is April during the water festival (songklan) Otherwise, dec or new years no big diff, just more people during new years.

Flights - See above

Accom - For that time of year best book early as hotels will be running near 100% occupancy. Look at the thread for hotels here on this forum or alternatively as not every hotel on the island is mentioned, you can email the hotels and ask them if they are guest friendly, if the say yes, be sure to keep the email response from them in case of any problems/ avoid complications.

Best time would be to fly out early Dec and stay for new year

How long a trip are you planning? That makes a big difference. Going in and out around christmas or new years you will get hammered by the flight prices and hotels being fully booked so it can be hard to plan a trip around that time.
