Newbie for New Years

Hi All,
Im a newbie to the board and will be a newbie in Phuket for New Years next month. Third time to Thailand, but first to Phuket.
Keen to pop into the Mai Thai for a beer and to have a look at that English-Thai Bar Guide. The book sounds exceptionally funny. Is it still around, I haven't miss my chance to get one have I.
Out of curiosity when is the MTB open, is it a good place to grab a bit of an afternoon brew before the night really kicks off?

Welcome to the board -

MTB opens around 9pm ish - will be girls there and you can play games and chat. Nicke normally gets there at 10pm ish.

For PM drinking (and eating) try Faulty Towers (Crustasian & Simbo's place) on Soi Sunset (street up next to Tai Pan) - they open at 2pm.

will do.. another friend recommended a day time drink at Valhalla? Is that an alright place to have a few?

The Valhalla is a good place to have a few in the afternoons.Jan is the owner and the place will be heaving on the New Years period.

Don't peak too early.On New Years the police give permission for the bars to be open until 7am so you are in for a long night.

well i got exactly 1 month to put in some serious training then!!!!!!!
Will take the afternoon at a nice leasurely pace...
