Allow me a short introduction:
Gentlemen,
My name is Kaiju, Hello. I swear to the almighty, there will come a day that I will grace the shores of Thailand! Excepting a brief stay in Canada, I have never, ever been anywhere in my life. I have decided to change all that. I have a lot of research to do before I go however and this forum will be my home base for such research. It seems that the more I learn about Thailand, the more questions I come up with about her. For a little while now I’ve been reading this forum and have come to really appreciate it. I find the personalities that frequent this place most colorful (Irish Jonny) and for the most part, full of important information (LivinLOS). My chest gets tight whenever I read anyone’s report from the LOS. The forum is strangely addictive however. I think it has something to do with escapism and the fact that I really, really want to go to Thailand and just can’t wait any longer. It’s a major distraction to be sure. It’s going to take me at least a year to get over there. I think I’ll find Thailand and its people to be most exotic. Some of the hotels and resorts look very accommodating and plush. I’m told that Elephants and Monkeys walk the streets and in certain places a man can get real close to a tiger. Also, if you don’t watch out, you’ll come in contact with the Forest Scorpion. I want to hike thru a jungle and see the wildlife. I want to scuba dive and/or snorkel at Phuket and then go drinking at the Mai Thai Bar. I want to walk the streets of Pattaya and take in all that eye candy. I want to see a fish bowl. As stupid as this sounds, I’ve never met an Australian. I’m told they are the salt of the earth and I want to drink with them. I’ve drank with the Austrian and survived. I want to do it again. I hope to meet some of the BM’s at the Mai Thai Bar and tie one on while we go bar hopping around town. Thai women, Thai bars, legendary are they or so I’ve been told. I will feast on them before I get too old! I’m 43, I favor Black & Tans and Single Malt Scotch. I’m an American and I’m glad to be here. Kaiju

Kaiju welcome to the board. You will absolutely fall in love with Thailand. I did my first trip last September and can't wait to get back. Hopefully May this year if all go's to plan.

Hey K- Welcome to the board. I did my first trrip last year and you remind me of all the thinking I did about my trip "should I go, don't go? Where???" God it was way too much thinking. The funny thing is you will never come close to imaginng what LOS is like, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND. I have traveld a lot yet never to Asia. It is truly the other side of the Earth. I really think I will enjoy my second trip more since I still cosider myeself a newbie but I am little more relaxed, I leave in 4 days
. So good luck and getter over there soon. A couple things to think about.1. You do not need to spend more than $40 for a hotel. 2. READ READ READ the forums. This is an incredible way to prepare. 3. Budget a little more money than you think. Vacations are not a place to worry about money we do that enough at home. 4. ALways ask how much before you leave bar and pay after services are rendered. 5 Go for at least 2 weeks if you can. It takes 3 days to relax into this new world. 6. If you fall in love laugh at yoursefl and take a cold shower, very cold  Well again, I am just newbie and all this info can be found on the forum but thought it might help. Just relax and do it. By the way NEVER try and drink an Aussie under the table. Rember in Australia they drink beer for water  Best regards Bodi

welcome to the board mate!!! I'm just gona repeat what the rest have told you..
HURRY UP AND GO TO LOS... Mate once your there you'll kick yourself for not comming earlier. I'm 27 and im kicking myself because i took so long to find this beautiful place they call Thailand when i was 25.. Good luck pal...

Thanks for the welcome gents. Yea, I can be a bit passionate at times but I listen well. I will take the advice of the BM's and will get there as soon as possible!
I'm currently checking out the hotels-guest-friendly thread to I can decide where to stay once I get there. Ciao Kaiju
