Greetings to all BM's

Just a quick one to introduce myself.

I have my roots in Denmark, but 4 years ago, I discovered Thailand and as the story goes, could not get the place out of my head, and was completely and utterly in love with the Land Of Smiles.
Now I have been living in Phuket (Kamala) for more than 3 years, and would not trade it for the world.
I have only recently come across this forum, but after reading it for a couple of weeks,
I must say, that I really like the atmosphere and the tone here, something other forums could learn a great deal from.

Finally yet importantly, I hope to meet some of the BM’s at the MTB.
In the near future, I will have to make a trip over the mountain.

"I AM Spart............

Oops , sorry just having a Kirk Douglas moment !!!

Welcome to the forum , I'm sure you will have a few stories to share with us after 3 years on the island.

I'd watch out walking about Kamala these days , their are a couple of shady characters around , the infamous "Tuna Boys" , usually found in a gutter with a big bottle of Rosso !!!!!

Spartacus,

Are you working in Kamala? Or retired to a life of leisure and pleasure?

First of all, Thanks to Irish Jonny, faultytowers, Bello Uomo and Pad Mc for the warm welcome, what an active forum, first reply only 2 min after my first post.

Bello, No I'm not working in Thailand, and I'm not retired yet (only 33 years and counting). I earn my money working as a consultant between "here and there"
But it would be nice though!!! to be retired, and just watch the world go by.

But then again to many things to do, and so litle time....

And to Nanook, congratulations on coming back to your loved one

I will return home in just 9 days, after a job overseas, and I simply cannot wait.

Hi thaizeman, Unfortunately, I can’t do it from my computer, it very much requires me in theatre.

Depending on what it is that you do, as computer scientist (web pages, software development, etc.), it comes down to this. Will your clients accept that everything is done electronically, or would they prefer meetings and presentations in person?
But then again that depends on your work, and clients.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful on this, maybe you should try and do a search on this forum, to see if something comes up, if not, post a new thread with this topic, sure someone in here would know.

Thanks for the welcome to you and Iltis

Hi thaizeman,

If your work can be done from anywhere, meetings can be held via conference call, so that you are not required to fly back and forward all the time.

But then again I'm not in the same profession as you, and do not understand the technical side of networks and computers. But if as you describe it runs itself, you should have a good chance of relocating to a place of your desire, with just setting up an offshore account for your salary, with a credit card you could be redrawing on that account from anywhere you wish. Alternatively if you are thinking of living in LOS a Thai bank account with a debit visa card, is relatively easy to set up.

Welcome Sparticus !!

Another Kamala addition - and great get away from crazy town it is - maybe see you in Kamalalala Beer Garden Thursdays after Baan Rim Klong (great curry there if you like curry).

Either that or of course in Patong - MTB, Hells-Bells, Love Bar, Faulty Towers!

Hey Spartacus. Welcome to the board.

Interesting, you’ve lived in Kamala just about as long as I have. And I agree, excellent place to camp. Whereabouts do you stay?

Hi K2,

Thanks for the welcome

Yes, Kamala is very good and quieter alternative to Patong, great to be able to “escape” over the mountain.

I Love a good curry, so that sounds like a good idea, Thursdays you say, will just have to fit it in.

Are you ever a Mountain view, or at Valhalla next to Expat and Faulty towers?

Hi Sundancekid,

Thanks for the welcome

What a coincidence,
I live on Soi Bangwan, the first side road to Soi 7/11, and it comes out again at the intersection opposite Beergarden.
And you anyway near me?

You should give Mountain view a go, some good fun there.

I agree that Valhalla is a lot mellower than previous histories I have been told (dating back 5-10 years or more), But I mainly go there because of the delicious food, great brunch on Wednesdays, and usually ends up a few drinks beyond clever!!!!

Cool Welcome

Maybe bump into you some time if I am in the Beer Garden with K2.

Watch out for those Fishermans Friends that lurk outside in the garden.
