You lucky Oz. I've already forgotten which thread I'm on but I think I remember what boom boom means and I know my way back to LOS. Is my dementia in remission?

I hope so RR
You have not started wetting your pants yet have you. I hear this is one of the first signs. Either that or too many Mekong's.

Not so fast Db, I haven't even found my pants yet.
On a more on thread note, you and I were two of the critics of the board not too long ago. Do you reckon we're through the learning curve now or is the old guard having a good day and just humouring us? I'm finding this thread quite civilised and all that a dementia sufferer could hope for.
P.S. Seriously, I hope IJ's not losing the plot though, I always enjoy his erudite input. And Denver's not posted for the last 10 minutes either.

I quite agree RR.
IJ and Denver in particular is very funny. I hope we have found the curve and they have found ours also. Humour can be different for everyone and sometimes not understood in context. Sometimes we all say things we shouldn't but that how it goes. Yes we have criticised but we are all grown ups I hope and will get over these small things. Where is Denver and IJ. Look forward to Denvers quotes and Johnny's one liners. Kamamalalala must be a good place to be as I see it. Would like to be there on the Rosso as well. Sure would beat the hell out of working every day.

At the risk of posting something vaguely on topic...
Here are some examples of what I meant by only allowing new members to post new threads in the newbie area. Basic but valid questions.
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ni...-thailand.html
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ne...-bar-girl.html
Again, just a suggestion.

DB and me are an example of how you can make friends. We started off as green newbies chipping at each other and now we're swapping invites and regular PMs. This is the upside of a forum which you don't find through links. We're on different sides of the world but we already had LOS and Oz in common. And how else would I know that Denver grew up round the corner from me. Only a board like this can connect people so effectively. I look forward to more real input, this kind of thread is dead right so I'll even permit Denver a reprise of "Summer Nights".

Despite my enjoying feeding your criticism of my posts itch (even when I wasn't planning to do so)...
I feel pretty comfortable interrupting private PM-type posting or limerick-move-controversy posts to try and keep MrDKs good post constructive. Although it is funny for being criticized for posting something somewhat on topic...a first perhaps?

Just a refresher of what I said. Again, post count was just a newness to the board metric of illustrate the point.
Sishow's post on the history of the board gave it all some new light for me. Clearly the guys that have been on the board for years have earned the right to post how ever they want. As someone that is a lot newer to the forum, I'm totally fine with that.
Yet, in many ways the board is now a voice of phuket and has grown. Hundreds are online at any point but less than 10% are members. Right now: Currently Active Users: 555 (43 members and 512 guests). Based on my newness, just trying to give some helpful suggestions on how to increase membership and feed MrDK's "real board member" thoughts. Hopefully Nicke and all members will benefit from continued success from adding new blood to this great forum.

Excuse please, IJ, apart from the toilet training tips, useful I grant, I'm awake again now and I can't seem to unravel, after being once more intoxicated by the velocity of this verbosity, the essential definition of being a real BM. Is this too a symptom of dementia? Or am I obtuse? Please ignore the last question.

i think, if anything, this thread has allowed a few "newbie" members a chance to get things off their chest and allow us senior BM's to look at things with a different perspective
as a senior member, i can tell you i am happy getting fresh perspective from new members.
some "newer" members who i can think off the top of my head that did that are:
ATWalking
TanMan-i dont always agree with him, but i do appreciate that he has alot to add and stands by his opinion and will debate his opinion
DBaron-i think he's a perfect example of what MrDK was talking about in his original post. he got a little bent out of shape with the overall feel of the board, but has settled down and been contributing pretty good posts

Am I crazy or did some posts get deleted on this thread? I know at least one of mine did. Not complaining, just observing and looking for confirmation.

Yes , one post by Tanman which was unsuitable, and replies/quotes by two others.
I think we can keep BMs toilet habits out of the newbie section

I agree totally with this post. Its always good when the "newbies " to the forum find their feet, and feel confident enough to post their stories/experiences and questions. There is only a certain timespan the "established" members will be on the forum, so the future is always in the hands of newbies.
