Greetings all
Hi,
I thought I would introduce myself. I am Michael and nick is Toasts. I am from Australia and recently I do a search and found this website and great efforts to all the ppl running it and also reading alot of posts about phukets and BKK just make me wants to come to Thailand even more.
I will be travelling first time ever out of the country for a holiday with one of my mate. I am glad I have found this website and found lots of useful info on BGs and just general guides what to expect from Thailand.
Thanks again for a great website.

Hi Mr DK,
We are planning to go to Phuket in the middle of May and its a beginning of the moonsoon rainy season. we plans to stay in Phuket for a week, vietnam or China for a week and a week to Singapore to see my mate's so called internet friend.
Do you think 1 week is enough to explore Phuket and possibly a few days in Bangkok as well?

A decade is not enough....
... seriously, a big question is how you personally like to "move around". Some people need to stay put for a while before they are at all comfortable and some (like me) can move around constantly and be OK. That being said I would not recommend less than three days in any given place. One week in Phuket should be adequate especially if you have other places to go. Some people like to spend all their time in Bangkok and other at best travel through. If I were you and if you have time I would give it 3 (or so) days there. I don't know much about Vietnam, so you figure that one out, maybe other BM's can be of better assistance. The same counts for China, except to say .. it is pretty far away and you should consider that for another trip.
Going to Singapore seems to be a unique agenda; just make sure that you are as keen on that part as your friend. If not, perhaps he go there a bit longer than you and you can then catch up. Solo traveling in Thailand can be pretty adventurous.
I have answered your question with my own bias and a little bit of objectivity, however, you never expressed what you goals are; so here we go ... cart before the horse.

hi Les and 5555555,
Well this is the first time for me and my mate and we just wants to relax and just chill out in some tropical island and Phuket seen to fit our holidays, away from work and the cold season Down Under. Beautiful beaches, BGs and the nightlife, shopping, shooting, go-carting, bungee jumping etc etec.
Also I love to try game fishing with the local chartered boat preferable out to sea. I have read some chartered services and some of the spectacular fish you could catch.
Yeah MrDK, maybe China would be to far and probably going to takes at least a whole month to explore china. As for singapore girl, think i will tag along as he mentioned that the internet girl has some friends as well, so she might hook me up as well.

Toasts...you are very lucky that you will be "finding" LOS on your very first OS trip....I'm sure it will be the 1st of many. I didn't find LOS until I was 51, and will be my second trip in a months time. My mate and I will be there til May 16th, so we may well meet, Shooting (pool and bullets) and go carting, good ideas, but your on the bungee on your own. Seeya at the MTB.

I am really looking forward to having a holidays overseas, especially Thailand since alot of peple raving about this country.
Just curious, how hot is hot in SE Asia during the summer season? I went to Darwin last year during Christmas eve and its stinking hot and the humidity are unbearable. Pretty much air-con on all night during sleeps.
