Patong Bay Garden Resort

After making a very quick decision to come to Phuket things went form great to very confused. It started out as a quick holiday for my wife and I, which then grew into another couple NOW we also have 4 teenagers coming along!

The Hotel was supposed to be Patong Beach Hotel a nice family hotel where teenagers could for small periods of time be left to their own devices while the adults can go an have adult fun. Sounds good, but this is where it all goes pear shaped.

The travel agent booked into Patong Beach Hotel but the wholesaler booked us into the Patong Beach Lodge. Nothing against the Lodge but it isn’t what we wanted. So now they want extra money to stay where we originally thought we were staying. We still had the original quote showing Hotel but they didn’t really give a shit!

The compromise is that they have booked us into Patong Bay Garden Resort. After doing some searches on this hotel I am a little concerned that it is a little to close to the action? Great if it was the 4 adults.

Does anyone know if the hotel is friendly enough to get 4 rooms together and where, the best part of the hotel would be to stay. I don’t mind if we have to upgrade the rooms.

We are going for the last week of September so will this be a busy time in Phuket?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi wonderdog65,

Welcome to the forum.

First off, here are some reviews of the hotel you are going to

http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...+Garden+Resort

Patong Bay Garden Resort, Phuket

Patong Bay Garden Resort was GF when I stayed there last year..but you need to book for two people.....asking about their policy for having a guest stay with you overnight is a good idea...and if they are fine with it keep the email with you.......good price you wee offered BTW..........if you can afford it stay in one of the rooms on beachsied rather than on Beach RD side.much quiter and closer to the pool/beach

Posted a pic of a junior suite in Patong Bay Garden before, here it is again. Own pics with golfbag in the corner.
Only negative about the hotel is food. Breakfast is not famous
Two biggest junior suites are 3207 and the one opposite of the swimming pool as they are at the end of the corridor so you win the surface of the corridor in those rooms. Don't go for the 2 which look out to the sea and the short side of the pool above the main entrance (roadside). Those are old rooms, shitty bathroom full of mosquitos (there is a fanhole in the wall and you can not close that) and the roomarrangement is bad.

There are more if you want to use the "Search" function at the top of the page.

Don't worry about teenagers staying close "to the action" that is Bangla Rd.
I have taken my two teenage daughters there for the past 4yrs and they would be extremely disappointed if they didn't go to the bars in Bangla.

If you take a walk into Soi Eric, left hand side as you walk up from the beach, and look for Mai Thai, about the 5th bar down on the right, the girls will look after the teenagers and you and your wife very well.

The last week of September should be pretty quiet, and expect some rain as well. This site gives the weather for the past few years

Any more questions, just ask away.

had my teenage nieces stay at a hotel 10 minutes walk from bangla, they were not at all worried about the nightlife, and their parents relaxed, when i explained that how safe bangla was for familys.
they had just completed a major campervan holiday of the uk and europe before they arrived in thailand.

after bkk for some days, patong was a welcomed change, and my brother and his wife and the girls really started to relax and understand that bangla whilst bright is not a hassle to family groups.

teenage sons, might have a laugh when the bgs see them, if your wives can take the joke if the bgs chat the boys up, but its in good humour.

its actually a perfect place for kids/teenagers as it backs right onto the beach......with a very nice pool in the centre and the hotel is horse shoe shapoed around it.....

Don't worry about it being close to Bangla.....despite its proximity it really seems a long way away once inside the oasis of the hotel and even outside on beach rd it is where they will want to shop for the deals on their Billabong beachwear etc....and sit in the cafes

best rooms definitely overlook pool but as would be expected cost a little more....DO NOT let them book you into a front room overlooking the road....very noisy from traffic in day and especially at night when the bars music kicks in......but the back pool facing rooms have very little or no noise

Its a much better hotel than either the lodge or PBH IMHO.....and there are always lots of families staying there....so you should be comforatble

Thanks all for your comments, I'll try and get the rooms away from the road side of the hotel and Yes the girls have already made their lists of Roxy, Billabong, CD's and DVD's. Cant wait to get there!
