Beer garden
Luckily no flaming is allowed here!!
I have read a number of trip reports and seen several references to the "Beer Garden". It all sounded fun so I got into a taxi and asked to be taken there...
Well to cut a long story short we could not find it. The taxi driver seemed to think it was only open in certain months of the year and then we started talking about Heidelberg where his girlfriend is presently "on holiday". Moral: don't ask a Bangkok Taxi driver for directions..
Could anyone be kind enough to tell me where it is!
Thanks
Mac

Hi Mac,
As far as beer gardens go I think it is in name only. Tumbler & Wylos seem to go there but it's not really somewhere I would go again.
I like Gulliver's better but it's also not a beergarden.
Cheers!

I agree with Urtheman....not the greatest pickin's, out there.
I've only been with "dog's" from the Beergarten, as opposed to some real "lookers", from Gullivers.555555
1. Beergarden pickup...
2. Gullivers pickup...
Huge difference.5555

The ladies at Gulliver's are the same LOS standard mix of ages and beauty, which is always in the eye of the beholder. But unlike many FLers, all of the ladies at Gulliver's I've encounter speak English very well and have either been married to or had a very L/T live-together relationship with a Yank or a Brit. The ladies there are definitely looking for U.S. or U.K. guys.

All the girls are earning a living, but some specialize in one nationality or ethnic group. Some will only go with Japanese or other Asian customers, some prefer farang from English-speaking countries.
It's easy as pie for Yanks, Brits, Aussies, etc. to encounter plenty of willing females at Gulliver's, but it wouldn't be a piece of kaek for some groups to find female companionship there.

I'm bad at judging distances, but I'd say maybe 100 to 150 meters, not a very big distance.

As you walk up Soi 5 from Sukhumvit probably about 100 metres on the right hand side. has a little kind of beer garden outside with tables and chairs!!!

Gullivers is good for the first day to start slowly into the crazyness.
Gullivers on Kao San Road is good as well. Not the same as the one near Sukhumvit. More young backpackers.

If you are a monger, my advice is to steer clear of Khao San Road, unless you take a girl there with you. Hanging out there by yourself can be a real eye opener, and a bit depressing. You may find out that you are not so "hansum" as you thought, and not so "welcum" either. But it is OK if you pick up a girl from Suk and take her with you. Lots of bars to drink in, and good cheap food from the vendors.
