G'day from Perth

Hi,

I'm a big nosed pharang from Perth, i'm originally from England (I still support the Poms in the cricket) and I was last in Phuket back in 1992(it was on my honeymoon back then, i've since become single again). I've been trawling through this fantastic messageboard for a while now, and I thought that it's a about time that I introduced myself. My name is Vince and i'm thinking of heading over once more to Phuket in a couple of weeks (though nothings booked yet) so, just wondering is July the quiet time of year. cos I hate crowds?

I will definitely head to the famous Mai Thai bar if I do go there, so look out for me on the webcam (i'll be the fat, balding Westerner who thinks that he's all that - so that should make me stand out from the crowd - haha)

Vince, welcome to the board. Wish you a good trip as soon as you can put it together.
I could not tell you first hand how busy it is in July; going next month to check out for myself. It should be fairly quiet and definitely low season.

Welcome to the Board Vince. Good to see another bloke from Perth join the site!

Yep, July is quiet season, which means it will be easy and even more affordable for your accommodation. There's always Board Members in town though. In fact, you can check here and get your name added to the list: http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ge...-arrivals.html

Welcome to the boards Vince.....as you said, head to the MTB and meet some other B.M.'s. It will make your trip much better. Also if you're looking for a good place to stay and meet other B.M.'s I sugget one of the forum sponsors - Summer Breeze Hotel. Ideal location.

Vince, Thai girls love Western Australian men. Just look at the expression on their face when you tell them you're from Perth!!

Hey Vince, apart from the balding bit you could be my twin!! July is not a bad time to go but don't expect much of a tan. Do go to the MTB you will meet many other BM's there.Make sure you keep up the WA tradition of wasting yourself at every opportunity!!

Welcome to the Board Vince. How long is the flight from Perth to BKK? Also is October a good time to visit Perth for a few days?

Thanks,
Paul

Even though I am not Vince, I can answer your questions.

1. Approximately 7 hours.
2. It is an okay time. It is Spring, so will not be warm enough to swim at the beach, but pleasant enough. The best wineries are about 3-4 hours south of Perth - can visit them all year-round. The Red Bull Air Race is in first week in November - that could be coupled with the Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne to make a good trip down under (if early November is do-able).

Paulf1, as Bello said, but can be a little cold around 23-26c as we are coming out of winter. Afew days agoe we had a top of 14c but still a beautiful day with cllear blue sky. I was telling a g/f in Bkk the other day that we can get as high as 44/45c in summer but she wouldn't beleive me, thought I was bull shi****g her.

14 degrees celsius is the coldest it will EVER get in Perth really. Brrrr.....

I see many Asian girls walking around Perth (it's my job to keep an eye open) and they all look cold in winter. Poor dears. I would like to CUDDLE and HOLD HANDS with them to give them my Bello Uomo Body Warmth(TM).

Hi, it's me again. Thanks everybody for making me feel so welcome here. I have booked my trip and will be in Phuket from 14th July to 21st July. So it'd be good to catch up with anybody else who's over there at the same time, we could have a few beers at the Mai Thai bar. I'll check the arrivals page and ad my details there too. I'm really looking froward to this trip, I haven't had a proper holiday for about 5 years or more.
