Let me introduce myself
Hello,
Debated on whether to post this thread, but here it goes...
Background:
Live in a very good sports area in America....Massachusetts/Boston. Very fortunate to have some great teams this year in the Patriots, Red Sox, and hopefully the Celtics. Hopefully it will be similar to 1986 when the major local sports teams had great years.
I used to be big on going to Montreal for "hobbying". Montreal is in Quebec Canada and is about a 6 hour drive from here, but I also have friends in Vermont. Montreal is known for massage parlours, strip clubs, and escorts. I have been there over 30 times, but not as excited about it as I used to be. The slumping USD vs. CAD does not help either. Asian girls are my preference with Montreal does not have many of. I have been on a similar Montreal based message board since 2003 and find this one to be much more kinder.
Started to see a girl from Shanghai, China this year and she brought me to Thailand for my first time in May. All I can say is "Wow!"..and I you all know what I mean. We had short a short stay in Bkk at Ambassador hotel as our first choices were booked. Then in Patong stayed at Daveena hotel which was nice for a couple. I did not find it too far to walk to places, but walking back to hotel at 3am alone I was accosted on 2 consecutive nights by LB's on Rat U Thit where I had to take a few quick steps to get away from them.
I was very impressed with the Patong area.
My friend from Shanghai and I are now just friends. Aside from the almost impossible distance, after visiting Thailand I knew I needed to be single for longer...I may just be ruined in a way. Maybe a good way.
Since that trip I have been a student of the board. The search function and "new posts" link are my friends.
So for my upcoming trip in September, with much information from the board I will be staying at Nana Hotel in Bkk and Summer Breeze in Patong. I am somewhat concerned about Nana hotel as far as my possessions go like my lap top. Hoping to use SB car service so I don't get the out of the way sales pitch by the air port "limo" like last time.
Not making too much of a schedule as I know things can change quick. Supposed to meet up with a girl in Bkk, but I am leaving my Patong time open. Hope to hit Annie's in Bkk. That unnamed bar(for security reasons) that has that service in Patong may be a place that I check out.
MTB is definitely on my list of places to check out. I walked by before but did not stop in. I would love to hang out with who-ever board members are there at the time and hope to gain some knowledge about the area.
I have not practiced any connect four game so I will get my butt kicked a lot this trip.
I want to thank all that contribute to and run the board as it has helped me much already.

Welcome, nice detailed intro.
What a wise decision you have made. And as for being ruined, you're in good company :-)

Welcome to the forum , I always use the SB car , it is great to see your name on their board at the airport ( that's when I know I'm 'home'). Nice clean car , great friendly driver (very careful) and never any stops.
Summer Breeze staff are excellent and a visit to MTB is the best way way to find out what's going on.

Hey fellow Bostonian welcome. From the last time I check, about 6 BM from the states will be in LOS during the month of September. Also, I think we have about 4 or 5 BM from the Northeast maybe more.

Hi Madnomad,
I did not get a good deal on my tickets, but I paid around $1,200 for economy on United. I am going the route of Boston-Chicago-Tokyo-Bangkok. I know for a fact I could have bought tickets for the same exact flights on United for around $900 on one of the 3rd party sites. I forget which one that was.
Reason why I am paying the higher rate and going with United is due to my height. Being 6'6" 205lbs has its advantages, but flying comfortably is not one of them. I purchased the economy plus access for $300 from United that gives me access to economy plus seating that is supposed to have a little extra leg room in front. Since paying $5K-6K for business class is out of the question I have stuck with United and to also build up miles with them. I had two trips to Shanghai earlier this year on United so I am getting my money's worth. Would love to shrink my body for these 12-14 hour flights.
Side note:
With my very limited flying experience I find United's economy plus seats to be pretty narrow. Thai airways, China Eastern, and Air China seats all seem wider. I find this to be ironic considering people from the US are more likely to be wide while people in China and Thailand are generally smaller.

A nice and good intro M8. I hope you will have a great time in Patong. And as others mentioned already, Sb is a great place and their pick up service is perfect. I will use it again next month.
Having lived just outside Montreal for about a year in the past, I share your opinion. It is a great city with many adventure possibilities. Back in these days there were a few places were you could go with Vietnamese girls. But since my stay there is about 15 years ago, I forget the name of the street. It was near St. Laurent Blvd.
Also remember and visited many Canadiens-Bruins games. Great stuff.

Welcome to the Board MM. If your concern about the Nana hotel is the fact that they don't have in room safes I would recommend booking a room at either the Majestic Suites or the Dynasty Inn which are both within a block of the Nana. You won't be disappointed staying at the Summer Breeze.

I arrive 11 September!
Hopefully I will be in good shape by then to really party. Will be arriving BKK after 11pm(23:00) on Sunday 9 September. I think I will be in rough shape after the very long flight, but may get that 3rd wind after arriving to Nana hotel. Not sure how much I will rest in BKK before getting to Patong.
I can't wait!
