Alright Jock, fit like the day??

Loads of new guest houses and things springing up over patong lately but just book something, save any hassle when you arrive, first time there you do not want to be wandering around looking for somewhere, you just want in the thick of it, so book and be safe, also get a card from the hotel as its not all that hard to get lost, i managed it a couple of times my first/second/third trip.

lots of time to catch up on how things operate on this site, perhaps catch you around sometime, as i am sure it wont be your last trip.

See ya

Simon

Cool Central location

C&N Hotel or the Ex Pat Hotel are good start points for Newbees. If you then want to move after a few days there is no drama.

The Ex Pat are in the process of enlarging their poolside rooms.

Welcome to the board from an ex "Smokie" resident.1320 (enough said.)

Welcome to the boards....Since you have 6 month to wait you can do a lot of reading and research to help you feel comfortable about your trip. And as suggested, book your hotel ahead of time.

How you could possibly be nervous about something that is 6 months away, is beyond my comprehension!! I don't get nervous until I'm packing and that is a few hours before the plane takes off!!

I was not booked on my first trip, but Patong was not so crowded back then, and the minibus driver who helped me find a place, at a very good rate, was a real sweetheart of a guy, and what's the odds of that happeneing? So I got lucky! Now when I go, I always book the first few nights. Helps you to get the lay of the land, and you can always switch over, if you trip over a good deal.

Welcome to the Board. Good luck! Don't worry about the gals. As long as you have your pockets full of Baht, you will find girls who will treat you quite well. Quite well, indeed!! Especially if you are not a picky bastard like me!

C&N will be fine Sean for your 1st trip
i guarantee you wont see south of 2pn on your inaugral trip so the pool is not a concern
it is a very clean hotel, right in the action, which is great for a 1st timer

you seem like a really nice guy, any questions, ask on this thread or send me a PM and ill try and give my opiniuon ro advice

and everybody, im sure, was a little nervous on theri 1st trip, so dont worry about that
also, remember to head down to the BM owned bars because you will meet people that will give you some direction and that are fun to hang out with

Dingo's(Soi Crocidile)
Hell's Bells(soi seadragon)
MTB(soi eric)
faulty towers(forgot name of soi, will get back on that one)

C&N are fine, i stayed there my first trip, no complaints.
If the same as when i booked, it took just over a week for them to get back to me about the booking, so dont panic.

Just read the forums, all the info you need is here, and you'll hit the ground running because of it.

Find your way to one of the BM's bars mentioned when you arrive, and someone is bound to drag you round the rest.

Have a good un.

Sean
if you are not confirmed at C&N
i would suggest staying at Summer Breeze only because it has use of a pool and C&N does not
