Visitors in Hotels

Hi everyone,

Im going to Thailand for the first time at the start of 2008. Spending six nights in The Horizon Patong Resort and eight nights in Deevana. I was just wondering if there will be any problems bringing visitors (randomsn, BG's, FL's etc.) back to these places. Like will the hotel charge me or even worse not let them in at all.

I did a quick search for Deevana and Horizon Patong Resort. A number of threads came up, including discussions about joiner fees.

Bringing in guests can get uncomfortable and expensive at some places. See if you're locked in there. There are rooms available for short time in the area also. Might be tough that time of year though.

you just go into reception and hand the money to reception....i came to an agreement with the receptionist, i gave him half the cost of girl fee and he could keep it for himself, hotel was none the wiser!

same same experience me Cappy but have seen them ask others for JF when I have been coming back in there late at night????

Could be one of the places where they don't charge FF customers or the reception staff are sometimes after backhander....so good advice email your hotel beforehand and ask their JF policy!!!....if they have one and it bothers you find another hotel but always let the hotel know that is why you are not going ahead with the booking....the message might get through to some of them sometime

F*ck me, depending on season it would be cheaper to get her a room there!

Another vote for making it a sticky from me. Maybe trim out the contact infos actually as I can't imagine anyone looking at some of those fees would want to go to these places...

I asked before and they said to book a double room. Never had problems, but know some people paid.
I always stay in Impiana Cabana and never pay JF, but I am a returning guest since 1991 and then 3-4 times a year. I know normally you pay JF. Last time a guy came with a girl at the reception around midnight and the desk operator said that normally he had to pay JF, but as it was his last night no JF.
I suppose it makes also a difference that I don't go through a travel agency, but book directly to the hotel so that they don't have to give a commision to the in betweens (and sell rooms at a lower rate).

Horizon informed me in May 2006 that the joiner fee would be 1000thb a night. So I found other places to "get one away".
Bear in mind Horizon is a "family type" hotel so they like to keep a family environment at all times. So they try and discourage those that like to partake in nocturnal activities.
