Smile my first trip!

Hi there, i have my 'virgin' trip to LOS at the end of october. the weeks are counting down and actually whilst i am very excited having read the info on the this site for the last 3 months...to be honest i am getting a little nervous.

i am travelling alone so i hope there will; be loads of you guys out there 'in the same boat' having to make friends quickly.
would you agree to establish some friends or just to go it alone-
other than that, my priority is to get a good seat on the plane, a 4hr flight is painful let alone one that takes all day!

Welcome to the forum hishnick.

I envy you in a way with a first trip looming. Oh, what fun you are going to have. Just look into Mai Thai Bar Soi Eric, on the right hand side, introduce yourself to Nicke the owner, and he in turn will point out other forum members. So easy to make friends there.

Have a great trip.

Welcome Hishnick.

No worries. I had my first (virgin) trip in april, all alone......

Didn't take long to find a lot of friends in the bars, had a great time, and booked the second trip one week after getting home. Biggest problem with LOS is that it is extremely habit forming.

Have a great one.

Oh dear!. You mean toothbrush for the flight? Most long haul flights provide a small flightbag with toothbrush, toothpaste, earplugs eye mask flight socks etc for the flight. Either that or there will be a supply of toothbrushes in the toilets. You can safely leave your case to be loaded in the cargo hold.

Just take a small shoulderbag for a few books /magazine etc, settle down in your seat and enjoy the films (hopefully you have chosen a carrier with seatback tv screens.

Welcome to the boards and enjoy your first trip. If you read the boards then you should get that warm fuzzy feeling about traveling alone. As said, head to the MTB and meet other BM.

Naughty boy hishnick, getting me to type that load of info for nothing

Singapore Airlines is a good airline. A good choice.
Read independant reviews of all airlines here:- Skytrax Airline and Airport quality ranking and World Airline Passenger Forums

Heard only good things about Singapore Airlines (never flown them myself). In my hand luggage, I usually have my PSP, a couple of good books and that's really about all you need. You get an in-flight movie (most of which I find rubbish) and to be honest you'll probably sleep for a bit anyway.

When I did my first tour of Thailand, I was on my own. I met a guy and his son who were both Chelsea fans, so I had some company one night when Chelsea lost to Arsenal and a few others. I did most things on my own during the day though, but it was nice. In Thailand you'll meet a lot of people and I doubt you will be alone for very long.

Have a great trip and welcome to the forum.

Get down to the Mai Thai Bar and you will be well on your way to what may very well be the best holiday of your life.
There will be plenty of lady's who will be your friend.
Don't worry about travelling alone....you'll have a great time.
I'm going with a mate in November and he's going home after 2 weeks......but I'm staying 'cos believe me, once you've been there a few days you wont care about travelling alone.

A bit like Dawsey, I am envious that this will be your first visit!!!! I remember mine, like it was yesterday, and I was alone, and that was 12 years ago!!!!!
With the right attitude (take it as it comes) you cannot help but have a good time!!!!
All mentions of Thailand should come with a health warning.... "This place is addictive"!!!!!
Have a good time!!

Hi Hishnick

Very envious. Look forward to your report
Sing Airlines are great.
You will meet friends very quickly.
If you want to get suits made do not leave it till the last day. Get a couple of recommendations of good tailors from MTB and get fitted as early as possible after you arrive. I find the more time they have to make the suits, the better the quality.

In my opinion Singapore Airlines is the best I flew with. It is my airlines of choice and I wouldn't even mind to pay € 50 or 100 more to be able to go with them, if the destination is served by them and the schedule is OK.

Decent seat pitch in cattle class and good food (for airlines food). Attentitve cabin crew. Can you imagine a timny slim Chinese girl trying to put your heavy handluggage in the overhead storage spaces?

I have used them on numerous occassions from Amsterdam to Singapore Now they fly with Boeiing 777-200, which is a great plane to fly with. Before they used the Boeing 747-400.

[quote=hishnick;383259]........travelling with an imaginary family
welcome hishnick!
in a couple of month( after your visits in MTB, Faulty's ........) you will be glad to get away from your imaginary family, and recover from your holiday .
unfortunatly then it will be too late because your doctor back home will have no cure for the addictive bug you catch here!!

have fun!!!
