Where to get good seafood platters
Hi, I'll be in Patong fom 26 till 29 Sept.
It's actually my 4th trip but all these while i've been craving for really good seafood. Those that I've tried at the alfresco restaurants opposite Grand Paradise Hotel is Ok but seems to very chinese styled.
Can someone recommend a really good seafood place around Patong?
Thanks & regards

You'll struggle to find anywhere that compares to East Coast seafood...
Along beach road probably the best selection but expect to pay top prices

with 3 nights in phuket, why not go to chalong for dinner one evening. there
are a few seafood places there with reasonable prices and nice ambience.
only problem if you are not driving, would be transport there and back. hotel
should be able to arrange for reliable transfer. btw, food is good there.
cheers.

My experience says beach rd places are over priced and bland..
It really makes a difference to know what your ordering.. I wouldnt exactly know what you mean by a 'seafood platter' and if the staff cant know an exact dish then it all goes downhill.. You need to select the fish / prawns etc and tell them what you want and how to do it, dont that way produces good results..

Not in Patong, but last year we had a seafood platter, at On The Rocks, restaraunt at Marina Cottages on the hill between Karon & Kata Centre. It was excellent & will be a place we go back to this year.

Go down to Rawai and walk along the road in front of the beach....pick your own platter from the stalls which are BBQing fresh seafood from the days catch (it is a fishing village) right there in front of you....cheap and a great experience

Get a taxi to take you to laem hin (near phuket0 and get a longtail boat out to Bang Id restaurant (a floating restaurant set amongst oyster farms between phuket an ko mapro), the boat cost is met by the restaurant. The restaurant is run by a fishermans coop and all the fish a in nets under the floating restaurant. The seafood is superb, every thing live when you order. The oysters are great, they haul the rope out of the water and knock off the number that you order. Well worth a visit.
