Get down and network in the more expatty places for leads to apartments / houses... Things rapidly fill up in another month or so.. Phuket has a far higher boom and bust cycle on rooms and living space than either BKK or patts IMO.

Loads of rooms and apartments available now for 6000/month and up but the longer you leave it before taking one the more prices will go up as high season approaches. You should get down here for a few days, get on a bike and go round and check them out. What suits you might not be ok for one of us.
