First Post From a Newbie
Hello all,
I've been in Phuket for about 2 weeks now and have been really enjoying your Phuket forum. I've been reading posts and keeping my mouth shut for about a week now. I am new to forum but not new to Phuket. I was here about 12 years ago and had a very memorable experience...basically all the things that happen to the Farang who is new to LOS. Well after 12 years I was in Singapore and decided to fly to Phuket for a while and relax because Canada is too cold for me to go back now. Wow, what a difference! I don't even recognize Patong! I have been there and walked all over...I've tried to find the bar where I met my BG 12 years ago and I just can't find it as everything looks so different. I don't want to be too negative but I'd like to share my first impression after not being here for so long. Firstly, there are 10 times as many businesses as there were before...the pace is hectic...everywhere you turn there is someone trying to sell you something...massage massage...taxi taxi....etc. The Phuket I remember was much more laid back; the locals were more gentle , more personable. In my opinion, you are not in Thailand when you are in Patong...it could easily be just any American tourist city. There is something that I find hilarious. I am walking around and seeing so many beautiful Thai ladies and there are these Farang tourists who are walking around with their wives and girlfriends...farang wives and girlfriends...fat and ugly farang wives and girlfriends. I wanted to take them aside and shout..."What are you doing man!!??? Why did you bring that ugly cow to Patong? Patong is for men to go to get proper service from real women...why would you bring your wife to Patong? Of course I didn't say anything because that would be rude and it's none of my business what they do with their life. I have to tell you that I think that Patong should be off limits to families though. Can anyone here tell me why some guy would bring his wife to Patong? Please explain that to me. Thanks. Well after 2 days I couldn't handle it any more so I moved into Phuket town. I am much happier now. I found a very nice hotel that I rented for the month. I met a nice Thai girl half my age. She works every day 12 hours a day 7 days a week. We see each other every night after she finishes work...we go eat Thai food and spend relaxing times together. Also I can go for walks around Phuket town and the people don't bother me all the time. I'm sorry if I was rude but I really wanted to speak my mind. Anyway this is my first post. Welcome to the board. I am sure you have and will have stories to tell about your time in LOS.
Not sure if I find sales pitches here anywhere close to that of North America. Been to China and LOS both a few times each and you can tell sales make a difference. No sale no get paid. No welfare or unemployment to be collected. With that said, you are not forced to buy. You just need to keep on moving along which sometimes may take shaking someone off that his holding on to you. Have fun in LOS and on the board. Look forward to hearing your reports and advice!

(no Alfie jokes guys) Anyways, welcome to the board & just a reminder for you, that there are well established farang couples & single farang chicks amongst the numbers here. I almost forgot to mention...... Our 2 esteemed moderators on here..Dawsey & Werwolf are regular visitors to LOS & they always bring their (farang) wives which they are happily married to. Also worth mentioning is the fact that some of the "well established farang couples", are looking for beautiful Thai ladies, to join them in their bedroom exploits. 55555 "Why did you bring your wife?" Well, she wants to hook up with a bargirl.

I've got something to say about the fat white women. I just quit smoking after 33 years of very heavy smoking and for the first few weeks I was eating way more than normal to try and compensate for the fix I wasn't getting. Well I have become overweight...I got a pot belly and love handles now for the first time in my life. I think it is disgusting...I am now eating much less(only steamed rice and lean Thai food) and getting more exercise and slowly losing weight. I'm not married so if I want to be a fat pig that is my problem. But I do have a big problem with these white women who get married and then gain 200 lbs a year for the rest of their life. I just left Canada and there is a huge obesity problem there. Literally half of the people you see on the street are so are so fat they look disgusting. I have no respect for a woman who would let herself go that far after being married. It shows how little regard they have for the man they are married to. It seems that once they believe they are being taken care of, they don't care about their partner. If I was married and I became obese, I would do whatever it took to lose the weight to look good for my partner. Canada is full of fat lazy people...they won't even walk a block to go to the store...they jump in the car...life is so good they have become lazy. I would hate to see that happen in Asia. It has always been a breath of fresh air to visit anywhere in Asia and see the women who are lean and fit and aren't afraid to be women...to dress in a feminine manner and to act feminine etc. What is wrong with that? That is why I was so surprised to see the white women when I visited Patong the other day. I had to step out of the way many times to avoid getting trampled by a fat lumbering cow...there's the husband walking beside her acting as if he doesn't see that the ugliest woman in Thailand is 10 times more beautiful than his wife.
There are signs that Asia could become like America too. Phuket now reeks of money...lots of cars on the road...it wasn't like this years ago. I've also seen a few obese Thais which you would never see years ago. Please please please don't lose your charm Thailand...don't be like America. You don't need 2 cars in every garage and a big mac in every pot. I realize I may have insulted some people who are married to caucasians and I'm sorry...but the point I was trying to make is that I came here to get away from them...it was quite a shock to see them all over Patong...it wasn't like this years ago. I should start a school on "How to win friends and influence people." hehe

A very opinionated 1st thread from a new member. No problem with that, every one has an opinion, but..........................
I think you are being pretty offensive toward, [a] married couples and [b] overweight people in general. I am one of the guys easyrider-au spoke of. I have been coming to LOS for the past 4 years, with my wife,and my daughters. Why is that such a problem for you. Patong isn't just for single guys you know. We enjoy the nightlife too and it isn't just reserved for you. I do agree with you that overweight women of any nationality is unattractive (my missus is overweight bless her), but they are as entitled to visit LOS as anyone else. I suggest if you don't want to see overweight farang women, you go somewhere else.............................................. ..............like Nigeria !

I have a friend in the UK and he is about 5foot 6inches and built like a garden rake.
He would never consider a boom boom with a woman under about 200lbs. His life and his decision. Just because someone is overweight does not make them unattractive. To say otherwise is offensive and narrow minded. Lively start to the board, welcome.
