If you're trying to translate from Thai to English you would really need to use the Thai alphabet when writing your mothers name.

Have you thought about asking your mother?

I don't recall hearing a name that sounds anything like that. But then everyone generally goes by a short(usually one syllable) nickname that they are given by their parents soon after birth. Real legal names in Thailand are pretty much a formality and just used for filling out applications or when you get your name in the paper. The nicknames all have a meaning, like Bird, Red, Fat, Pig, Chicken, etc. But I don't think the real names have a meaning any more than most farang first names do.

Having said that....Kha means leg or legs, me means "have." Kha is also a polite word which women add to the end of a sentence to sound proper and polite.

Make of that what you will. But Kemika sounds more like a Japanese name than a Thai name, IMHO.

BTW, the lack of replies to your question most likely means that there is no obvious answer to your question.

Have asked her in doors, who knows everything, useless, might as well put her outside!!!!

She has heard the name Kemika before and said it is a Thai name but she has no idea what it means. She said that your mother must look it up in the Thai book of name meanings.

Seriously there evidently is one, she told me what it was called in Thai but already forgotton what she said. If you need to know the name I'll ask again but I reckon mum will know it.

Assuming you are trying to translate your mother's name from English into thai.....

The spelling of anyone's name is a very personal thing. Even with English speaking people the spelling of an English name is sometimes fraught with danger...translating into another language? .....

In Thailand there are at least two spellings of Kemika เขมิกา and เขมมิกา. The former is Kemika and the latter is Kemmika.

As with anything in Thailand this may or may not be 100% correct. If I was going to get this name engraved on some jewellry I would get confirmation from another source.

Cheers

Sanuk
