Thai Air
Hi, I am so excited in going to LOS that I have missed the NEWBIES Area. Sorry for just barging in on my previous posts?
Would the LOS experts please comment on their experience with THAI Airlines? Will we be well looked after and what can we expect?
Thank you for everybody that replied on my previous posts! You are true Friends!

I have flown with Thai air a few times and i have had no problems with them. They do look after you quite well in the cattle seats. I cant talk for other bm`s but i will be flying with Thai air again in march.

I find Thai Air just OK, nothing special but, comfortable. My own preference is Malaysia Air, seats better, wider and TV on every seat back.
Thai can seem a bit basic in pleb class.

Pretty average also IMO. I used them many times from Sweden and Denmark. They use old 747s with poor entertainment sytems. Service is fairly ok and they are usually the cheapest.

I have found Thai air to be ok. No complaints. I have not flown many carriers like other BM's, but no complaints about Thai so far.

Hi the-undertaker.. Are you flying from Joburg??
Thai Air does not connect to Cape Town, so I fly either Singapore or Malaysian airlines.
They are both good, but my personal preference is Singapore Airline.
When are you going over?

Agree with previous comments but the one thing I especially liked and looked forward to flying with Thai Air, was that as soon as I was on the plane being served by Thai girls, speaking my pidgeon Thai and eating some thai food, it felt like my holiday had already started 11 hours before arriving in BKK.

amazing how opinions differ......at first i liked this airline but over the years it turned in to a disaster....food was always shite and very little attenton from the stewardesess.....it was tuff to get a few drinks from them !!!!!
my preferred airline of choice now is singapore airlines.the best in the business......
im flying cathay pacific next month and ive been told they are also excellent.........

I looked at Cathay Pacific but thought the reviews not too favourable as people were comparing them to BA but not so good.

I'll be flying with Thai airlines in March. I flew Malaysia before and yes, the seats were good with on demand TV. The selection of films and programs was also good. For some reason the inbound flight must have overstocked with orange juice, I lost count of how many cups I downed.
I needed a cheaper flight this time so I have to sample Thai airlines.

I always fly Thai and i find to be quiet good.. No complaints. One time i flew with them and there was not individual entertainment but that was a few years back.. Apparently they've upgraded and all their planes have them now... I also like them because its one straight flight from Melbourne with no stop overs and no connecting flights so once on, next stop is BKK...
Flew with Singapore once is was also very good but the wait for the connecting flight from Singapore to LOS dragged a bit. I just wanted to get there... Also got caught in massive turbulance pocket and i thought we were gone, the plane dropped for ever.. I Sh!t myself full on.... but apart from that i was all good..

Thats the downside to flying from the UK. The extra flight is a pain, even if it is only an hour or so long.

Thai used to be cheapest from london but had excellent service.
Now they are equally expensive and the service is average by previous standards.
Typical Thai service ethic, when times are tough, increase price and reduce service. Disappointing.
My company pay me to go home every year but I don't go, so I ask for the Thai quote as it pays me the best rate in cash.

you should look into the type of plane you will be on....if its a modern 747 or Airbus you should have decent seating and entertainment system....I fly business and their lay flat seats are about middle range IMHO
Singapore Air is much beter better but Thai is quite often more direct and better priced...at least from the other side (from you) of downunder

Never seen a TV in any seat on any Thai flight I have taken.
I've taken more than a few, esecially from London where a constantly sold out route warrant nothing more than contempt from the airline. Old hardware.

London is only flown with their "old" 744, they don't have a personal entertainment system

then airbus BKK-Milan is a great service........all the mod cons and one of the reasons I started to fly with Thai as I can go Sydney-BKK-Milan and not many airlines do that directly....perfect for me with a stopover on either
end

Old planes (747's that still have ash trays in the armrests!), an online booking system that is second to none, it is the WORST no contest and flight schedules that never seem to quite fit our plans.
BUT...they fly direct, they offer great package deals and the in flight service in economy is excellent...plus you feel you are already there the moment you get on that shabby, well used and spotlessly clean plane and the Thai smile is there as the slim staff "wai" you to your seat.....sigh....
