buying a used car

I'm looking for a used mini pick up truck to buy. I live in Phang Nga. I'm willing to spend around 100,000 baht. Any suggestions?

By mini pickup I assume you mean 'small pickup' and not a mini (style of car) pickup as I have never seen one in Thailand.

Nissan NV fits your bill but 100k doesnt get much here. Your going to need to be looking at rougher examples at that price.

u can definitely get one of those small Mazda pickups for that price, i've seen them for as low as 50k (though a little rusty but still driveable with a bit of work). not sure where to look for them though, the ones i've seen have been parked by the side of the road with a sign in the window around Phuket Town.

Small pick up's a better description. I'd probably be willing to go up to 150, 000 if it's in decent condition and hasn't done over 100,000 KM's. Have e-mailed all garages in Phuket and not one has replied, useless gits, tried phoning a couple also; one hung up on me and the other couldn't understand English or my Thai. Any suggestions? I don't really feel like riding my motorbike there and hunting for cars.

i can't think of any 2nd hand dealers in Phuket that would answer emails, especially one in English. sorry but i think u need to get down here, rent a bike and drive around as many dealers as possible (loads along Thepkassatri road, and Chaofah East and West). that will at least give you an idea of the ridiculous prices they expect for worn out motors.

then while you're down in Phuket town drive around some of the main streets and you'll see a few cars parked by the roadside with for sale signs. i often see 1 or 2 parked outside Tescos on Yaowarat rd, esp. weekends. if u see something like this:

give them a call, offer them 50 grand and take it from there.
