Fly to BKK first and it's only an hours flight to Phnom Penh from there. Its about an 8 hour bus (2 buses) journey from Bangkok to Ko Kong to the east and maybe 5 hours to Poipet (North east of Bangkok), both land border crossings from Thailand. If you are only going to Cambodia for a few days I advise flying from Bangkok to Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh is a fun and interesting city and worth a visit IMO.

Was going to say something, but it has already been said now!
If you are going from Phnom Penh just to BKK the same day, then its a sinch. If your planning on taking a connecting flight elsewhere the same day. Then it may take more time to plan. Was a nightmare trying to get connecting flights the same day with we from Hkt. BUt the may back it was a doddle.

If you are to visit Cambodia, spend the time to go to Siem Reap/Ankor Wat. 2 days I would allow. Out on the third. Personally I felt Cambodia is a wonsa. Very, very interesting to see, but not much reason to return again. imho

Geez Gary, I would do a "big" rethink on doing HKT Ist, then on to anywhere in Cambodia.
Assuming that you are a single man, I would personally fly to BKK, or any other major gateway, and do what you choose to do in Cambodia..... First
Then I would do Chang Mai, for however long you need, and THEN get your ar5e to Phuket for as long as it is possible.
If you do your trip in the order your op has suggested, I am afraid you will reflect more on the beaches, parties, food, bars and ladies that you met in Patong, than well worth seeing temples, disturbing history, handy crafts and forested mountains.
And don't forget a night or 2 in BKK, cos u can. Soi Cowboy should do it.

thanks for the info, i am planning on going to ankor wat, i have to brush up on my cambodian though. the info ya'll give is great, and also i was wondering about the beach, i was loking to go to a nice beach for a day or two, maybe do some scube diving, but hey whats a nice secluded beach without some company, are there places out there to find girls. also it will prob be us three guys in our late 20's doing all this, is there anthing else besides the girls that maybe i dont know about, i was thinking of maybe getting a chopper or going bungie jumping, not sure if skydiving is an option. also are there places to cliff dive? also i have about 14 days, i was thinking about 3 days in bkk, 1-2 days in cambodia, and then the last 9-10 days in phuket, or pataya, not sure about the diff, and while there a day or two at the beach. when i get hotel rooms, does one really matter to the next? also i see alot of pics here of the girls, do they care if i take pics of them, and well thanks.

If this is your first trip to LOS, your in your late 20's and you only have 14 days vacation (does this include travel to and from LOS) I would suggest skipping Cambodia this trip as you'll be spending too much time travelling....which could be better spent on the beach and chasing girls in Phuket
As it sounds like you enjoy the beach I would suggest stopping in BKK for 2-3 days and then head down to Phuket for the remainder of your trip.
I would not do a combined Thailand and Cambodia trip unless I had at least 3 weeks vacation. Even if you fly up to Angkor Wat (Siem Reap) as Nels suggested you still lose time checking in and out of hotels and getting to from the airports.
See my trip report to Cambo from January '07:
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ca...ip-report.html
You can do Cambo on your next trip as I know you'll be back
