G'day guys n girls
I'll start by saying congrats on this awesome site, iv'e found it extremely helpful and also extremely addictive.
So yeah , about time i posted something hehe. Myself and a good mate will be heading to the LOS in a little under a month now, we can't freakin wait. We will be spending 3 nights in Bangkok before heading down to Patong for 11 days.
We have figured we would travel light and do alot of shopping for clothes and essentials in Bangkok. ( Really want to pick up some cheap Ralph Lauren Polo's.. yummy)
Ok. . . We are really looking forward to the nightlife of patong and trying out alot of nice bars and clubs. It would be great to get some tips from you guys about the best places for some quite beers and food in the day, through to the night where we can listen to some hip hop / rnb / dance whatever and just let off some steam.
Also we are looking to do some day time activities, maybe diving, fishing sight seeing. . that is if we arn't too hung over
Ok thats enough from me for now.. Thanks in advance, hope to hear back from some of you.
P.S I will have the pleasure of turning 21 ripe years of age in Patong any reccos???

Welcome to the board.
you can always arrange a birthday party at your favourite bar. it depends on how much you intend to spend you can have food and everything organised by the bar owners.
as for the daytime activities, there are lots of tour-operators around patong that offer many different tours and activities.
i'm sure you and your mate will have a great time

Gday Aussie87,
Sounds like you are in for a great time, going with a mate first time around is good fun, has he been before?
Im sure you will see 100's of good ideas on this site.
First id suggest if your looking to do some day trips / sightseeing to book them at one of the many tour booking desks on the streets around patong. Remember to bargain a little because they are usually flexible on price. The hotel will sell you the same tour for twice the price.
Also there are some good seafood / normal thai food restaurants located down a small alley next to the tiger disco and bars. Excellent food and a fraction of the price of the more expensive beach road restaurants (although a meal at the upmarket beach restaurants is nice to try also for atmosphere)
Of course there are hundreds of bars and it will be hard to choose. Remember Mai thai bar in soi eric good place to meet up with guys who know the place well and can fill you in on all sorts. Doesnt normally get too many people until 10pm onwards. Any of the bangla rd bars are good hangouts earlier on.
Also MBK shopping mall in bangkok which is adjacent to National Stadium BTS station (1 stop from Siam) should service all your needs.
Enjoy!

Gday Aus87 - welcome to the board my friend.
When you get to Patong drop into the MTB and have a word with Nicke about having your 21st party there cos I'm pretty sure he'll do you a good one.
However any of the bars will put on a party for you (even if its not your birthday....5555) so the choice is limitless.
Have a great time and "dont fall in love" (at least not every day) ........55555555555

Awesome. . got replies already, thanks guys
Ozskin - My mate has toured Europe before but never been to Thailand.
Me on the other hand. . . This will be my first time leaving Australia haha so im a little nervous as you'd imagine.
We both have a decent head on our shoulders, so we should avoid getting ourselves into any trouble hopefully.
Just worried about a wrong spot at the wrong time situation if you know what i mean.
Quite funny actually.. im a vego (vegetarian) and my mates a butcher So hope we can find that inbetween haha.

welcome to the board, aussie!
well, that's really funny!
but i'm sure you'll find something to eat...
good and cheap food can be found in the "number 6" restaurant, on rat-u-thit road, near bangla! already recommended by some other BM's

That will make you an instant legend with the BG and it really can be a lot cheaper then buying a few rounds at the local pub back home.

You will have an awesome time in Patong.
Have a search around for Bangkok related posts as these will come in handy too.

Welcome to the board...nice to see some still introduce themselves.....As previously said.....make one of your earlier stops in Patong to the MTB and meet Nicke. Great place to have all your questions answered and meet to other B.M.

most day trips involve hangovers mate, very hard to avoid especially at 21 it just seems to happen. you will have a 21st to remember you will be a legend in town, have a goodie. there is restaurant on the beach just north of bangla (through a small arcade) near the kodak shop called the tipsy prawn pretty shore they do vego but not the cheapest place around but unreal location to dine enjoy.

Well I have learned something tonight Cliff 5555
Englands cricket bogey number is 111. Something to do with Nelson but I don't get the connection myself.
I still think 87 is his birthdate
