Question How can I share Patong photos from 1985

Hi Guys!

My 1st post. I'm in Phuket on holiday right now with my wife. We've been here three times before since 2002 with various members of our family, staying at JW Marriott or at Laguna, Bang Tao.

Only previous visit was in 1985 with my best mate on a touring holiday from Manila to Delhi via Singapore, KL, Penang, Hat Yai, Phuket and Bangkok -before I was married .

I took a few photos of the Bangla Road area - which was rather different 23 years ago, and I'd like to know how I can best share these photos with other forum members and get some feedback on them too.

The photos are back at home in England and I'll have to scan them first, and would hope to have them ready in early March.

Does anyone else have old photos from the mid-80's?

Is there a website showing the development of Patong/Phuket in pictures over the last 25 years?

Edit: Also, in 1985 we stayed in a hotel along the beach road, just north of Bangla. The hotel had ground floor bedrooms each with a large glass sliding door, and were staggered in such a way that each had a view towards the beach. There may have been a pool too, but I cannot remember, as we used the beach. Is that hotel still there, and if not, can anyone tell me what it was called?

Looking forward to any replies

Hello and welcome to the board

Once you have scanned the photos, register at Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and upload your pictures there.
-That done you can either link with an url to the album where the pictures are stored, or you can copy/paste the IMG andress from photobucket onto this site and the pictures will be showed in your thread.

Looking forwards to see your picures from those days

Hi and welcome to the forum , would be great to see how Bangla was back then. Why not post your pictures on Thailand Photos which is a service provide by Nicke whose site this is , that way all the BM's here would be able to see them easily.

I think the hotel could have been Phuket Cabana. Not all bungalows had seaview but a lot had. Will try to post a pic from 1991. Next door was Patong beach Bungalows. But there only the first row of bungalows had seaview.

Smile Thanks Captain - cannot wait to see photo!!!

Hi Captain,

Thanks for your reply regarding a possible identification of the hotel/bungalows I'd stayed in, back in 1985. Please do post a photo if you can, and I'll do the same when I get back home - later next week. I see from the forum that you knew the Cabana well over a number of years. I expect that its appearance may have changed after the post-tsunami refurbishment.

All - Thanks for the welcoming messages to the forum! Much appreciated.
