Unhappy Getting to Phuket late at night ...

Sorry. I know I am not QUITE a newbie but I DO have a newbie question... My friend and I are arriving in Phuket at 12:30AM May 8 (Low Season). The last time I went I had to hold over at Bangkok for a night and then flew to Phuket the following morning. My question is about how long is it on average for Customs \ Baggage Pick Up? Also will the currency exchange be available at that time of night and how long will that take on average? My concern is that by the time we leave the airport for Patong it will be too late to pick up girls! We are considering exchanging some cash before we arrive to at least skip having to go to the exchange that night. Some advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

At that time of night I'd expect to be through in well under an hour.

If transiting in BKK, I'd change a few $ there to keep you going

As Dawsey said, you will fly thru customs and baggage at that time of night. Use a.t.m. at Phuket Airport, they have several. One just as exiting terminal on left side. (by gift shop). If your staying near Bangla, you should be there by 2-2:15.........

And Marvis, the place will look like a rock concert just let out. Go to Bangla(MTB, Soi ERIC) and by the boy's a round!!!

If flight is delayed and you dont arrive till 4 or so, just head up to Soi Sansabai, (50 meters) and everything is open. TONS OF TG"S,

OH, and have a blast.

As everyone is telling you, customs should be a breeze during that time. What I usually do is change about $50.00 at the airport counters upon arrival. That money will be used for cabfare, tips and a nice seafood dinner. Afterward I hit the ATM and withdraw my daily limit. As for the ladies, don't worry be happy :-)

JFYI, I use the Siam Commercial Bank and they had a sign up the other day saying they are not cashing Travellers Cheques anymore! I can't vouch for all the other banks or other branches of SCB but..........Just letting you know.

I doubt you will have a problem changing them somewhere here!
