Newbie - Hello All
Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are arriving in Phuket 10 May08 - First timers.
I was wondering what we can expect as far as the weather goes for this time of year. We will be there for 10 days. Also we have found the Vahilia Bar (not too sure if that is spelt correctly - also known as the Viking Bar) on the net, but have heard that it is closed. Is that right?
Many Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

Welcome to the board…yes the Valhalla will be closed by the time you arrive. Lots of other venues to check though. It is rainy season, but rarely will it rain more then an hour.

Hi OzCpl,
Welcome to the Forum,
You can expect pretty hot and humid weather with possible heavy showers early in the month. I believe the monsoon weather arrives later in the month IIRC.
Yes Valhalla has closed, but the thread below gives Jans new location

The weather is not really a "problem" in Phuket until Sep/Nov, when it rains more than usual, and still OK by European measures, as it dont last all day, more likely an hour or two. Still hot and comfortable.
Every year is different thought so it can be bad or good weather. I remember back in 1999 it was flooding in Bangkok during May and June, for example. Phuket usually have a lot better weather than Bangkok during low season.

Welcome to the board.
Other BMs have posted about just wandering in to a pool area AND getting a free massage!
Accomodation with pool raises prices but not that much - the beach is not really swimmable as it is under 2 foot high for the first 100 metres - try Karon (next beach south of Patong).
Go to Mai Thai Bar - meet BMs - and get invites to their pool!
Enjoy LOS - I'll just miss you - you could swim with us at Patong Tower.
