newbie

Hi
Not exactly new i posted back in Oct regarding an incident
on the aeroplane returning tO thE UK via a greek island, the culmination
of six months travel.
Briefly and ill try condence this,i was on stanby for 11 hours during which time i had a few amstels, when eventualy the lady got me a place on the plane i was obviously elated so much so that i purchased a quater bottle of whiskey at duty 3,i was definately defeated physicaly and alittle tyred mentaly but no way drunk on boarding.
Iwas alocated an aisle seat right at the front of the plane, not the best place to relax consequently i took a sleeping tablet had 2 coffees which i mixed with the whiskey.Ihave vague recolections of turbulance and can actualy remember smoking in a sureal kind of enviroment, but my moment of clarity
is a Manchester police cell.
I was subsequently charged with smoking being drunk and abusive and my passport was confiscated,i was surprised at the abuse and it was an issue throughout.
After ajournments i eventualy found myself in Jan at Manchester crown court
The abuse was apparently directed at one of the flight crew however the statements which had been taken from the people imediately around me contradicted what she said, the general consencous seemed to be that i
was confused and at no time did they feel threatened, this was more rewarding to me than a slap on the wrist.having been told by the barrister
that i should resign myself to the possibility of 2years.
It was very aparent to the people involved that i was ashamed and they found it highly confusing knowing the amount of trouble free travel i have
done consequently they beleaved it would be best if i was to say i was drunk on boarding the plane, which i did and this is eventualy what the conviction was for,i was lucky to receive a very large fine and a massive lesson in complacent traveling.Ihave many friends who use drink and sometimes self medicate to make the journey less taxing totaly trouble free, not everybody is as foolish as me
i should never have traveled that day i was not equiped.I do not attempt to simplify or trivialise this incident but i do think "air rage" requires a little more understanding.
Any way i hope i managed to condence that.
Iwill atempt to do the Indo China loop sometime soon maybe May, June and would like to spend more time in Phuket this time not enough time there last time, stayed in the Andotol just on the periphery i had company from Bangkok so enjoyed the slow walks back and the solitude of the place, food stalls opossite couple of steady bars life was good.
Will propably only accomplish the Bangkok loop Patpong,Nana and Soi cowboy. Thanks for your patience Sean

Well a little surprised that you would relay this story in the forum. You don’t think that maybe you have been added to a “no fly list” somewhere? I guess you might find out the hard way when trying to board your next flight.

Anyways, interesting story and welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board, Scary situation, to be on a no fly list would be seriously troubling to me, at least.

Yes i understand exactly what you are saying that was a major concern,
and it would be totaly justifiable for the aviation authority to do that
unfortunately all concerned are not working in conjunction,as i have already said and experienced it is a massive conundrum.(air rage).even the legal proffesion seemed a little unknowing.Ihave the utmost respect and admiration
for the flight crews sometimes carrying out there work under enormous pressures ,staffing shortages beligerent travelers .Unfortunately this is contagious to us as passengers.I attempt to make no excuses for my
behaviour just trying to explain that it doesnt take very much.
I was apprensive and aware of the potential repurcuctions of my actions regarding future travel. So i booked with British Airways to Malta for 3 weeks
i was very impressed ,very attentive crew if there was a problem it was behind the scenes.I was in New York for St Patricks day .Iam not being flipent
iam without a doubt on the no fly list with Monorch airlines. Please dont misinterpret my atidude it is late and i have wrote this speedily

Drunk while on the plane, lucky you escaped with a fine. If you said anything wrong while flying in the USA, i dont think you will be flying anymore.

ANyway have a good next trip!!!
