You're not the only one - seen this from many many others here.

I couldn't agree more. IMHO Chang is the best tasting beer in Thailand. Maybe because it tastes so nice and familiar - it's actually a Danish Beer (called Elephant) by Carlsberg - but now with Carlsberg out of Thailand Chang beer remains. The only problem with Chang is that you never really know how much you get. According to what I hear then they don't have quite the same QA procedures as in the Carlsberg time, and that results in a more variated % of alcohol. Sometimes it's 6% (which I think is what is written on the label), but often it's as high a 9%.

But I had a great time reading your post! Get back memories! Thanks for sharing with us!

This is one of their ways that killed me at first. In the West you buy someone a present they make a bigg fuss and are very appreciative. But when you buy a Thai girl a gift they don't even look at you. It's almost like you've insulted them. I can imagine the hurt look on guys faces when this first happens. 5555555

Really? What kind of gifts are you talking about?
The slighest little things I give to my girl are happily and emotionally very appriciated and welcome as far as I can judge it.

I was generizing since marc26 had mentioned this before. i can only recall the one time. I was on Don Phi Phi waiting for a BG to show up from BKK. It was Valentine's Day. She had mentioned to me before that she will not have a Valentine because I was leaving her in BKK and going to Phi Phi alone. So anyway I decided to send for her. I looked around Phi Phi and found some red roses to give her when she arrived. When I showed them to her I got nothing. I even clipped the thorns off.55555

Oh, wait, I remember another. I spent a few days with a Pattaya girl on Koh Samet. When we got back she said she wanted copies of the photos I took. When I went to her bar to give her the book of pics she didn't thank me and or show any appreciation. I think she might have been mad at me because when we came back from Samet I set her loose for a couple days. I do recall her babbling somethin like you BF lady ST, bla bla bla. Anyway I wasn't feeling great about her and when she went to dance I got up, blew her a kiss good-bye and left. The look on her face was priceless.

When we go see my wifes family in BKK, I always ask what to buy for gifts. It's always the same she say: A good bottle of "Gammel Dansk" to her father and 2000 Baht in an envolope to her mother!

If you want to go safe, just give money! Here in Denmark it would be looked at with the same eyes as a "normal" gift in LOS. But there it's a totally accepted gift!

lol that makes sense chang/elephant
elephant beer doesnt taste like chang to me, maybe aussie elephant beer is brewed in in oz like most imports are now, thanks for the info

baa, short for peebar = crazy, as above maybe ting tong nicer

Bagwan = Baacwan = sweet mouth

Neither are either nice nor nasty, depends who, how and when said.

i got a few tingtongs but mainly baa's, every word they said to me had a baa in there somewhere - dont you love the little darlings

Nice read, and at least you never lost sight of the fact you were with a BG; Saves you a broken heart back home

thanks edj, you are so right but even knowing the deal i was emotionally attached to them, like finding a puppy and not wanting to give it back kind of thing, i cried when i left #1 for bangkok, mainly because she was crying when i was leaving, but when i called her from bangkok and told her about #3 she thought it was hilarious, #1 is my kind of girl

Quote:
Sounds like you had a very good time

Do you miss her? Do you call her / mesage her, now you back in Australia?

i don't miss #2 or #3 at all, i dont think i really proposed to #3, she said i did the morning after a big night out, i probably did though, i drank a bus load that night, i sure as hell dont want to marry her, she was too boring, unbelievably good looking but thats all, she wouldnt even look away from the tv when i was speaking to her half of the time, she would even say to me sometimes "me not want listen" which i thought was hilarious, i want that on a t shirt !, if you want to meet the the real girl tell them your poor - lol

i do miss #1, she is so funny, i would have tears in my eyes with laughter most of the time she was so funny, she actually stopped speaking to me for about an hour because i cried too much, i have called her a few times from oz, even though we know we are only friends she still insists "me not work at bar anymore" etc, i dont even question her about it, its none of my business where she works

#1 loved (and sometimes hated) my presents, "this is too big, you think i pompooey/fat ?", "i love these shorts !, buy me some more !, i want every color !" such a smart ass

i gave #3 a present once and she just said "put in bag" i shit you not, didnt even look at it ! lol - she was funny too in a bad way

so anyway - if you are reading this and have not been to thailand go asap, drop everything and leave right now, you will have the best time of your life, just read this forum

try not to fall in love though

lol

i would say she is more demonstrative these days than in the past with showing her delight
and if i mention something on the phone, she squeals like a pig

The reactions on gifts is indeed strange, must be a thai thing. At first when i bought gifts for my girlfriend, no reaction, not even a thank you (also had the "put in bag" ).
This one time i wrote her a letter and gave it to a friend who was going to Patong on holidays. I had 2000bhat from my previous trip, and decided to slip it in the enveloppe aswell. She had the nerve to say it wasn't much i gave.
Had to explain her it was not very polite to not say thank you when you receive a -even the smallest- gift. She now understands, and thanks me every time. She now is at the point where it starts to sound genuine .
Won't stop me from loving her though
