First timer...
Hiya!
I am heading to Bangkok and Phuket in September and I'm just wondering on some good places to stay. I love the night life, clubs and partying.. so, any good places to stay which are close but not too noisy?
Also, I see alot of posts about BG's and stuff... to be honest, I'm not really interested in much of that... where are some places that the tourists go to (the ones that aren't looking for BG's and happy endings) lol?
Thanks.

Hi Balthi_aus welcome to the board.
You will find a lot on information on here and lots of BMs who are happy to share their experience with you but you have to put in a little effort yourself.
Your questions are way too broad for anyone to really help you. What area in Bangkok are you going to stay - Silom, Sukumvit, Bang Na, Khao Sahn Rd? In Phuket are you going to Patong? How much are you willing to pay per night etc?
As to not being interested in bargirls....famous last words mate.

Gday Balthai..WTTB...there is a Phuket accommodation thread well worth reading. http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...esthouses.html The nightlife really centres on Bangla Road, and thats where you will find 1000's of BGs. Good luck.

Hey Mate
The majority of night life is on and around bangla. If you want accommodation that is walking distance try the Seaview Hotel it's not to shabby.

thanks.. but.
I have done quite a lot of research, but I honestly can't seem to find many, or any places that are BG free. I realise that Phuket, and especially Patong are the BG capital...
For two weeks in Phuket, I will be training at one of their Muay Thai clubs, so this covers me for 2 weeks accomodation. I am looking for one week accomodation in Phuket before I go to Phi Phi.
The reason I came to this board is because after reading many posts I have heard from many seasoned travellers, with good information for my own travel.
I know that 95% of males mostly come for the BG experience or whatever, but it aint quite me.. I don't really believe in it as I am not quite comfortable with the STD/STI side of things.
I understand that I won't be able to go to an area that is completely BG free, and that Patong is the hip and happening place on Phuket, but are there places like night clubs or something that are mainly for tourists and not for picking up BG's?
As for the accomodation, I am going a little cheap as I personally will only want to spend around 500-600baht/night, I will be going with a friend and he will also pay the same. So a price range of 1000-1200baht/night for two people. The reason for being so cheap is that I will also be going to Chiang Mai, Krabi etc... and I am travelling the USA before coming to Thailand.
Lastly, can anyone tell me about the Full Moon party on Koh Panang? I have heard a lot about it, but I want to hear some personal experience.
EDIT: I thought of something else too... how long is the grace period in Thailand that you don't need a visa for? And how do you go about extending it?

In (very) short. If you are looking to party and will be sharing room with your friend, don't mind where the BG's are or are not.
Even if you are not going to take them back to the hotel, they are fun to party/play with.
At entry you'll get a 30-day visa waiver stamp, which can be extended 7 days without leaving. If you are staying longer (30+) days, get a tourist visa from the local embassy or consulate. It will be good for 60 days and can be extended by 30 in-country. Extension command a small fee.

hmm...
So can I extend my visa for Thailand before I go? Or can I only get the tourist visa whilst I'm in Thailand... ?
A question for the guys (i think most of you are anyway).. are there many female tourists in Thailand? Cuz.. why not pick up those girls rather than BG's? I am probably naive as to your intentions but.. you wouldn't have to pay that way, right?

Geez mate, everyone pays one way or another.
Have you not ever wined and dined a girl just so you can get into her pants, and probably spent far more money per boom boom than with a BG.

No...
I just think there is a difference between two people that want to sleep together instead of 1 person who wants to and the other doing it for money.
I want to be able to have a real conversation with a female tourist.. communicate on a normal level. You are traveling, she is traveling, you are both equal and if you like each other enough, you may end up sleeping with each other... where as with a BG, the idle chit chat is pointless as you know you're just going to end up paying the bar fine and negotiating a price with them at the end of the night, Thaigirls DO anything if the price is right... and that's just not me.

Visas (for the purpose of this discussion) are applied for and issued outside of Thailand and generally in your home country. You will need to apply with the Thai embassy or the consulate near you. The processing time should be under a week and there may be a small fee.
Visa waiver stamps (entry without a visa) is granted to certain nationalities (including yours) for a period of 30 days upon entry. No other paperwork than filling out an arrival card is required. For a fee and a "small" inconvenience these can be extended for 7 days.
Again, if the length of your stay is 30 days or less, don't bother with a visa. If you will be staying for more than 30 days, do the visa thing back in your home country.

They really, really, really, really, really want to sleep with you .... in exchange for a modest monetary consideration.

Well at least he's swung the raunch scales for Aussies way back.
Are you into Christian rock Balthi?
There are often pairs of falang girls staying at places like the Seaview which is at the quiet south end of Patong beach.
Whether they want falang blokes or not is another question.
