my first time

(sorry if this is the wrong forum)
hello all,i will be visiting thailand for the first time at the end of the month for a 2 week holiday, meeting up with my friend and his girlfriend who are on there travels over there.i fly to bangkok on a saturday landing late afternoon my friends arrive sunday night and as i will be spending a night alone in the country i would like to sample the local 'nightlife'
.some help would be appreciated
in answering some of my questions please..

would i be best to spend the night in bangkok or would i be better off to head straight for pattaya?

what clubs/discos/bars/areas are the best to visit? ive read up about the bangkok scene patpong/soi cowboy/nana plaza but am unsure as where is the best place for a newbie like myself?

what is the better option go go bars? beer bars? freelancers? pros and cons etc?

also any tips on what hotels to stay at in bangkok if i choose to spend the night there? or hotels in pattaya if i head there?

any help much appreciated

thanks

First post .... newbie area is the right place
Welcome to the board pally pete.

Where to spend your first night depends a bit on where you are going to be the next day when you meet up with your friends.
If you have to be in Bangkok then don't go to Pattaya. You'll be spending too much time (IMO) traveling, relative to the time you play.
If you are going to Pattaya with them, then one option is as good as any. One night in Bangkok will give you a little different flavor than Pattaya, but with respect to night life and the opportunity to visit some attractions; on the other hand it will mean checking in and out.
If you go to Bangkok, stay in the Sukhumvit area near Nana or Soi Cowboy. In Pattaya the options are wide open; most of the town is a party zone.

Stay at the Nana Hotel in Bangkok. What you can do, within crawling distance, will change you forever.

Read every post on here. And maybe, just maybe, you might be able to avoid some rookie mistakes.

Here are the top three IMHO.
1. Make sure she/he doesn't have an adams apple
2. Bring Imodium and at the first sign...
3. DON'T fall in love

There are many hotels there.
A good starting pount would be to know your budget.

In the 2-3k range I can recommend Majestic Grande or Dynasty Grande. At the mid 1k range Majestic Suites, though that usually sell out quick.

On the very top of each page on this forum there is a link to Thailand Hotels. Many 10's listed for Bangkok.

You may also want to search the forum for "Bangkok Hotel".

First off....read as much as you can..it will only be to your benefit!
Now that I have confirmation of hotels for my next trip I can recommend some.

Not sure what you are looking for, but I like Nana hotel. It is in need of an update, but always a popular choice among many. It is right across from NEP(Nana Entertainment Plaza) which is nice and fun. I use Asiarooms.com to book a standard room that does not have a view, but works for me. Many options, but Sukhumvit area is probably what you want.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi

You could try welcome to NAP-INN I stayed there in March 2007 a nice cheap and cheerful place just down the road from Nana Plaza.

It is on a small soi opposite the Raja hotel and you can walk to the guess bar near the Raja hotel and Nana Plaza.

Also you can walk to the Bier garden Edens and get the sky train from nana to Askoe to get to Soi cowboy check out Long gun on Soi Cowboy they have a good show just watch your eyes when they fire the darts.

Dynasty Inn on Soi Sukumvit 4 is similar to nana hotel and just across the road...smack dab in the middle of the Nana area and a few steps away from Nana Enterrtainment Plaza....it is Ok if you don't mind a pretty ordinary hotel....I'd say 2 stars and price should be about 1500bht

a much better hotel is their sister hotel just around the corner called the Dynasty Inn Grande....this is a 4.5 star hotel and starts at about 2300-2500bht.....its the one recommenede by MrDK and a much better value hotel IMHO than Dynsaty Inn or Nana Hotels
