Question Expats??

I am not really a newbie been to Thailand a few but I am glad that Nicke put this here. I always wanted to know but was afraid to ask....what does the term expat mean and from were did it come from?

I’ll try to get some photos from Sxygirl if we do lunch today to bring. I’ll be in Phuket on the 17th in the MTB that night.. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I am not native English but I thought Expat comes from Expatriate?

I agree with the meaning.

No, not when you've been married to a Thai for 10 years

First 6 months ur a Sexpat

When I first got here I was a little more wild but there are so many opportunities here for business. It's a beautiful island, the people are great, little or no pressure at work, low cost of living, great nightlife, who could ask for more.
Ok maybe a nice museum and library ( nah!)

Cheers!

Ever been to Ho Chi Min or other bits of vietnam ??

I actually like the taller, slimmer, more definiately 'oriental' looking eyes of the Khmer girls I meet here a lot.. Spent a few months with a Laos girl that had those strong upward edged eyes and high cheekbones, I found her facially very exotic..

Vientnamise girls have a whole package of beauty.. Little button noses, delicate bone structure and skin, paler, long limbs..

I really do seem to have a dose of Yellow fever..

Asian Lovelies

I think that all of the Asian races have their own beauty and I am attracted to them all, Thai, Laos, Vietnamese, Filipina, etc, do not have any experience with Indo’s though.
I can only refer to LivinLos’s sign off “Once you go Asian you will never go Caucasian !!” how could you ever argue with that!

The correct spelling is expatriate, which came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I assumed it meant someone who was no longer a patriot, since they deserted their homeland. It just means someone who had left their homeland to live in a foreign land. Incidentally, a repatriate is someone who return to his homeland after some time spent living in a foreign land.
